And 'Politics' is actually the deadly, virulent disease that we are discussing here.

So deadly that IF you catch it, you have a less than 1% chance of dying from it. If you are under the median age of life expectancy and don't have multiple co-morbidities the chance of dying slides down near zero. It's so deadly that the powers that be refuse to give people early treatment (go home until it gets worse) and suppress treatments that do not put millions of dollars in to the pockets of Big Pharma and it's supporters. It's such an epidemic that hospitals can afford to fire health care workers that are unpoked and it's so deadly that in order to make up for lack of personnel they can then have COVID positive staff taking care of patients.

At this stage of the game, the fact that you can make the statement you made shows exactly where you are on the free thinking freedom scale you sit. Hint, it ain't on the free thinking or freedom side of it.

The same dynamic works with the vaccines or in an even broader sense politics in general.

” How else should one regard adults who believe that two-year-olds on airplanes and five-year-olds in schools should be masked?”

And even worse is knowing that our family doctors believe we need to all wear masks when visiting them. They, of all people, should know the mask does not prevent the virus from spreading. It is just scary to think that my doctors know so very little about the science behind health. Or maybe they do know but decide that making money off Big Pharma is more important than curing patients. At my annual visit last year, the doctor reviewed my list of meds and suppliments. She saw Quercetin and could not pronounce it nor did she know what it is. I saw she was frantically searching on her laptop for an answer. She asked me why I was taking it, and I just said, “you need to look it up”. It made me wonder where has she been if she has never heard of something that has been routinely spoken about concerning the virus. It’s scary! In our little mountain town we are very limited as to doctors to chose from.

Those of us who flaunt mask rules aren’t a threat to society, we are a threat to authority.

Doing my informal survey at the Publix, I’ve noticed an upsurge in masks, even double masks and face shields. I live in Florida, where it’s not mandatory, btw.

Somehow the order must have come out from liberal central to start up the hysteria machine again. I would guess it’s the message of the various TV “news” shows these people like to watch.

I live in a county that has reinstated mask mandates. I therefore drive 10 miles down to the next county where masking is (still) optional to do my shopping. The out-of-county maskers who enter the stores are horrified to find us walking around maskless. One masked lady in the aisle stopped in her tracks and stared at me, a look of abject fear in her eyes. She made a U-turn with her shopping cart and sped away from me.

I did have one masked fellow come up to me and ask "Are masks required?" I told him no, and he said "Thank GOD!" and took it off.

Our church had been following the state’s guidelines and had people wearing masks. Although it wasn’t enforced. The pastor a few weeks ago said that they were changing the rules, and that it was a matter of personal conscience if you wanted to wear a mask or not. (And the state had walked back the mask mandate for places of worship).

He was aware there might be kick-back, but I think he handled it well. He said he knows that there is the looking down at the people that are pro or con by the other side. He said he didn’t want any of that - people are free to do as they see fit.

He said that he has taken the approach that if a person with a mask comes up to him he puts it on (out of respect). And he takes it off for those that don’t wear one.

My wife and I went up to him after the service. “I like your approach to this whole thing. By the way, next week my wife will not be wearing a mask, but I still will. But - we still both love each other!”

I wear an N95 if I’m in a crowd or close proximity to people. I was in the car with my son and his girlfriend after I picked them up from the airport. I was debating whether to wear my N95 in the car but I did and apologized to them.

45 minutes in the car later we got to our house and I invited them in for a bit. “No thanks - we’re pretty tired and she’s not feeling well so we’ll just leave.”

Turns out they both had covid. Son spent 8 days in the ICU and almost was vented. I still have yet to get it. Whether it was the N95 or not I have no idea - but it can’t hurt. Although as the weeks go by I’m more and more lax.

I could care less what others do when it comes to vaxxing or masking. I do care if I’m forced to do it.

Back when they first started mandating the store a check out clerk said “We don’t enforce the mask mandate.” Off came the mask.

I do hope that all this will be over very soon thanks to Omicron.

Not if Dr. Fallacy has a say in it!

I have a theory. I think ugly people with low self esteem are enjoying the heck out of the mask mandates. They like that they can hide their ugly faces but don’t want to be the only “odd ones out” by wearing a mask. lol

Why don’t we all just leave each other alone?

One of the more positive and negative side effects of the OSHA mandate is people's vaxx status has been effectively flushed out in the open. Many companies (prior to Omicron), in preparation for the (6-3 struck down) mandate, not only collected documentation on employees' status but promulgated (largely municipality-driven) mask policies. In short, if you weren't vaxxed, you had to wear a mask while the vaxxed were at liberty to de-mask. Thus, you could look at people's faces and get a sense for whether or not Mary in accounting took the shots.

It's the New Scarlet A.

Clearly, this is a negative because never before has a company effectively stamped people's immunization records on their faces, for all to see.... And to discriminate. Frankly I don't care what Mary is triple vaxxed or if she's a follower of Dr Malone or whatever she does in her off hours as long as she doesn't cause a murder (as Zappa once said). But I suspect a few people DO like to monitor such activity, and to evangelize on the topic. The pre-Omicron "don't ask, don't tell" vaxx approach has been shot to hell, paving the way for discrimination using the pandemic as a human shield.

The one "benefit," has been that many vaxxed people have sort of come forward to explain why they've remained masked, and the unvaxxed have sort of done the same. In short, they're not necessarily haters. Many vaxxed but masked people have brought their parents in to live with them, in some cases removing them from retirement homes/killing fields. They're deathly afraid of dragging ANYTHING back home - COVID19, influenza, the willies - and remain masked. Some people have comorbidities (asthma, heart disease etc). Finally, the unvaxxed - their cover having been blown - are somewhat compelled to explain themselves, e.g. Religious objection, medical reasons, and my fav "I'm part of the control group."

In essence, not everyone wearing a mask is a rabid pro-vaxx statist. For many people who simply want to do a good job, like/love their work, enjoy coming to the office, and are cheesed off at the state of the zeitgeist, the forced transparency has lead to a sort of realization that there aren't too many deeply-seated differences. I can live with Mary and she can live with me. I can cite clinical studies on the ineffectiveness of masks. But frankly, if vaxxed-but-masked Mary is petrified she'll accidentally kill her Dad at home, and me wearing a mask eases her nerves, I'll offer that up to God as mortification.

That's in the private sector. Your mileage may vary.

I’m not contemptuous of those who wear a mask. Their choice to do something stupid like that. But the first time one of them says anything to me, I’ll get right in their face. It’s not likely to happen, as I’m 6’ 2”, broad shouldered and have a somewhat menacing look after a career in LE and with the military.

People who wear masks everywhere are mindless droids open to any suggestion from the government. Whats really scary id some of them are very close to the edge of insanity. They could go batsht crazy and become violent at any time.

That's why I don't trust people who are wearing masks while driving, walking in the parking lot, or sitting outdoors.

H#ll I saw a jogger in my neighborhood yesterday wearing a mask - nucking futs !! 🤡😲

Just read the disclaimer on all boxes of surgical masks. They are only good for fluids, such as those encountered during surgery. Or is reading labels not scientific enough?

Masking is similar to those urban legends that popped up in the 70s and 80s. Remember the ‘screaming woman’ who “died” in Love Rollercoaster by the Ohio Players? Or that Mikey died after eating Pop Rocks and drinking a soft drink? There was no truth to any of it, but the stories spread and spread. Even later, after they’ve been debunked, there are people who are so invested in it being true that they can’t let go. Sometimes it’s stubborn pride, but, when it comes to the Godless Dems, it’s more often simply fear that keeps it alive.

I don’t hate mask-wearers. I feel bad for them. It must be horrible to live life with such fear, anger, and hatred. I imagine it must be very lonely.
