No invasion. Putin is messing with NATO....Putin will get everything he can from Biden before standing down.
Obama is actuakky in charge, following th eObama rope a dope plan, and Putin bored Obama a new one over Crimea.
Now this is Obama 2.0. And now Putin will proceed to bore Obama another new one, bigger than before. Obama and Biden by Proxy are indeed Putins bend over boys.
There will be no invasion. Biden is caterwauling about Russian invasion so he can improve his polling for election.
There will be no invasion.
I think in this case they might be.
Respect is earned through doing the right thing.
Fear is knowing that things won’t turn out good for you if you don’t do the right thing.
It was said that 2 or 3 members of Al Queda could take over a town in Afghanistan. So, were they feared or respected? If you crossed them then you knew they were coming down hard on you. Really hard.
We can disagree. Nothing wrong with that.
If there is respect, there can be mutually beneficial arrangements. If there is only fear, there is no mutuality at all.
The reason the US (both parties) have zero credibility with anyone is precisely because we refuse to protect our own borders from foreign invaders.
That kind of stupidity gets noticed....everywhere.
This is what is called a leading indicator—that Taiwan is about to be toast:

Decadent societies are easy pickings for aggressive neighbors.
China does not want Eastern Russia. China wants to expand East, not West.
Besides, if China and Russia agreed to conduct their invasions simultaneously, they probably also agreed to not invade each other as well.
I agree with that.
But, I don’t think China seeks mutually beneficial arrangements. I think they seek complete control.
If there’s, respect and mutually beneficial agreements, then when a representative of a Chinese interest shows up, there can be a civilized debate or negotiation.
If there’s, fear, then when the representative of the Chinese interest shows up, he gives an order and it is followed. With absolutely ZERO concern for how the other party is affected. And I think that is China’s end game.
All one has to do is refer to the many, debt traps, they have all over the world. There is nothing mutual about them taking oil from Venezuela after Maduro and his buddies stole all the money that was “loaned”. They’re taking money right out of the pockets of every Venezuelan.
There is not mutually beneficial arrangement between the people of Sri Lanka and the fact that the Chinese control the country’s largest port, again, after being given a “loan”.
“China does not want Eastern Russia. China wants to expand East, not West.”
Agreed. Note that my comment referred to the board game Risk.
Yeah, but if there is only fear, the party feared is forever uneasy and forever watching its back. It can trust no one. It has no friends or allies, and becomes a paranoid, which ultimately always proves fatal.
No, it’s best to be both feared AND respected.
Everyone keeps taking military action. I think it will be much simpler than that. Look at how Afghanistan went. Within 3 days it was over after we surrendered. Everyone was in place. I think both Russia and Taiwan already have their respective government tools in place. On the word go, Ukraine and Taiwan will hand themselves to Russian/China control. Relatively bloodless. Some feigning concern, anger, quickly arrested and out of site. All of our goodies then gets confiscated and sold off to highest bidder. If this happens, watch what happens in the Middle East next…
Does China have any friends or allies now?
Or do they have, the enemy of my enemy?
You can think what you want.
I’ll think what I want.
Getting testy, are you?
“Tell me again why we are sending athletes to China?”
And out troops to Ukraine? Not definite yet with Biden, giving it serious thought.
Not one little bit.
I’m not the one thinking that Xi wants to be respected.
Did Castro care what anyone thought of him? How about Maduro?
Xi has most of our politicians, government on state levels and Wall St in his hip pocket. He needs no respect from anyone.
He’s no different than a crime boss at this point.
“Did Castro care what anyone thought of him? “
Actually, he did.
It was probably before your time, but in 1960 Castro went to NY to appear before the UN, and demanded that he and his revolution be shown the respect he said they deserved. He also spent hours lambasting the US.
Yeah. Sure. And then he went back to Cuba and started murdering his own people.
Shining example of wanting to gain the worlds respect.
Putin is playing chess, Biden is eating pudding.
“Yeah. Sure. And then he went back to Cuba and started murdering his own people. Shining example of wanting to gain the worlds respect.”
Kind of reminds one of Hitler, no? Demanding the world’s respect? Think of the Berlin Olympics, 1936. That was a clear demand for respect.
