NATO announced Monday that it will send fighter jets and ships to eastern Europe as tension with the alliance and Russia hit a fever pitch due to the possibility of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Denmark will sail a frigate to the Baltic Sea and send four F-16 fighter jets to Lithuania. Spain is also sending ships to join NATO naval forces in the region and is considering sending fighter jets to Bulgaria, the statement read. France said it is willing to send troops to Romania, and the Netherlands also said it will send two F-35 fighter aircraft to Bulgaria in April.

The moves come as tension in the region is increasing by the day.

The British Embassy in Ukraine said it will withdraw some staffers from Kyiv in response to the growing threat from Russia — just a day after U.S. officials told Fox News that the State Department ordered families of U.S. Embassy personnel in the city to begin evacuating.

A spokesman for Ukraine's foreign ministry blasted the State Department's decision as "premature" and an example of "excessive caution."

Resident Biden’s bad track record, pretend tough guy bluster, incompetence, and need to distract from the domestic trainwreck here are a dangerous combination.

Its infuriating that Russia provokes this kind of reaction while China is about to run riot in East Asia to nary a whimper of complaint. Apparently Russia has not been greasing the right palms.

NATO is a joke....

If the poop hits the fan, what is Denmark’s single frigate going to do other than burn & sink?

Two Dutch fighter planes will accomplish what exactly?

Putin is laughing at these clowns...

So after Dementia Joe left a massive $80 Billion worth of military equipment for the Taliban, how many billion dollars worth of US military equipment is Biden going to gift to the Russians this time?

The Drums of War beat louder.

https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/news_191040.htm

On Monday NATO announced it has put its forces on “standby” while initiating deployment of additional ships and fighter jets to Eastern Europe. “NATO will continue to take all necessary measures to protect and defend all Allies, including by reinforcing the eastern part of the Alliance,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in a statement.

“We will always respond to any deterioration of our security environment, including through strengthening our collective defense,” Stoltenberg added, while discussing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine showdown, which the Kremlin has denounced as hype and based on false allegations it’s planning an invasion. The Kremlin has further reiterated its plea for Western countries to stop the “hysteria”, which itself is hyping the crisis further. One NATO diplomat has been cited in reports Monday saying the Biden administration is mulling a move to transfer some troops from Western Europe to Eastern Europe in the coming weeks.

Most of the residents of NATO countries know NOTHING about Ukraine. Zero. Couldn’t find it on a map if they had to.

Yet we’re risking a nuclear exchange? Sheer madness.

Once a conflict like this shapes up anything could happen. Just one miscalculation is all it takes to lead to unthinkable disaster.

These are token moves but quite frankly I’m a bit surprised that Putin has let NATO play its little delay/escalation game. This has not worked to his advantage. He has given NATO time to make his incursion a little tougher. From a purely strategic standpoint, its looks like he’s the one stepping back. JMHO

Japan is talking about building nuclear weapons and getting rid of its leash on its SDF. Also South Korea is asking for more THAAD emplacement.

Also, there are two carrier battlegroups in the South China Sea, and additional F-16Vs are on their way to Taiwan. Not enough though.

We’ve had two carriers in the region since 2020. I didn’t know about the F16s though. Are they a recent sale or something that has been in the works for awhile?
