Supreme Court paves way for Trump White House document review by Jan. 6 committee

The vote was 8-1, with Justice Clarence Thomas dissenting.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday denied former President Donald Trump's request for a stay of a lower court mandate that hundreds of pages of his presidential records from Jan. 6 be turned over to the congressional committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The vote was 8-1. Justice Clarence Thomas would have granted the application.

In November, an appeals court put a temporary pause on the records handover after Trump sued the committee and the National Archives, asserting executive privilege over more than 750 pages of records that the National Archivist had determined were relevant to the Jan. 6 probe into Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the subsequent attack on the Capitol.

For all of those idiots celebrating over at DU I would caution them that this sets a rather significant and useful precedent for the upcoming impeachment hearings for Slow Joe. As they say, be careful of what you wish for.

SCOTUS opened a can of worms with this decision.

I say that because from now on, any time Congress gets a bug up their a** and want to investigate a president, they’ll have no problem getting records from now on, and here I thought presidential records were off limits because of executive priviledge. Can you imagine what can happen now? Why couldn’t they get records from former presidents? Because of execute priviledge. Remember when they wanted Obama’s logs and phone records but he said “executive privilege” and it was immediately dropped?

“into Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election “

Uh, Trump wasn’t overturning any election. He was trying to prevent that. Mike Podhorzer and his unindicted co-conspirators did that with the money and cooperation of the entire Rat party power structure, and specifically in a few contested regions.

Trump Won, no doubt about it.

Obama’s presidential records are sealed for so many years. That’s why the edifice he is building in Chicago is not a library. His records will not be there.

Bidens records as senator and vice president are at a university in Delaware. They are also unavailable to the public They are Dems. Different rules for them.

IIRC, Nixon called Executive Privilege over the “tapes”. The Court said No.

You forgot to mention the Republicans who assisted the Big Steal, it was completely bipartisan or they could not have gotten away with it.

More indication that Left is confident they will never give up power.

Either they are confident they can endlessly steal ‘elections’, or they live in a fantasy land.

You would have better luck of obtaining Hillary’s 30,000 emails and Hunter Biden on trial.

I don’t see the point they are trying to make with this. Capitol security is Pelosi’s responsibility. He was already impeached and not found guilty and he’s out of office. Are they really expecting to find a plot to take control of the Capitol? Finding discussions of constitutional rights and law or even talking points is not a scheme to overthrow the government.

This was really an idiotic event. I don’t know that Trump had any sway over events considering he said, “peacefully protest.” The media calling it a deadly event colors perception that the protesters inside the Capitol killed. They want that

Was Trump right to grasp at straws to maintain power? NO but he was right to point out any problems uncovered in the election process. He can’t look past his own ego and realize his loss falls on him as much as any Left manipulation and fraud

Mea Culpa, you are correct

Traitors deserve far worse punishment...something they should remember in the upcoming “elections”

The “Supreme Beings” on the SCOTUS are still playing the “insurrection” game that started when President Trump tromped Hillary’s ass in the presidential election and the only thing they could do was bring down the Trump administration with vicious, lying attacks. (Insurrection).

That’s great news... Now let’s see all of Obama’s documents.

Sorry, totally private.

Same with today's Ron Klain, Soros representatives, Chinese agents and others conferring with the puppet Biden.

Totally secret, sealed, private, hands off and don't ask.

That will never happen. Not in a million years.

You could get 9 of the most Conservative, Vengeful people on that court, tomorrow. All wanting to expose Soetero for what he really is. The fire that would erupt at the archives building would be the stuff of legend, destroying everything. And not a single fire truck in DC will be operational until the whole block is burned to the ground.
