New York COVID positivity rate stays below 10%, Gov. Hochul says

COVID-19 rates have remained under 10 percent positivity for two straight days, Gov. Hochul said.

“We are below 10% positivity rate for the second day in a row. This is extraordinary progress,” she said Saturday.

Of Friday’s 299,580 swabs, 27,643 came back positive — a positivity rate of 9.2 percent.

We are rushing toward conclusion of the COVID pandemic, regardless of what policies Governments might adopt for restrictions or masks, or even at this point, vaccinations.

COVID has run its course, and the percentage of adults with some immunity (from vaccination, infection or both) is in the high 90’s percentage.

Israel, what I don’t get is they have religious cleanliness dictats, not sure of the muslim habits are all major countries over doing antibiotic soaps, and hand sanitizers that has been linked to decreasing immunity, Only place I use it is rhe kitchen becauce of food prep. I thought this was not a very useful med according to other articles. Here (mid-south USA) church, fairly conservative group, was 1/2 normal attendance for 2nd straight Sunday, yesterday. Schools including the private school my wife teaches at have been having an extremely hard time with turning up enough substitute teachers (even those certified only as subs) as so many teachers and staff (and subs) are out. A couple of the school districts that were most resistant to all online classes before have had no choice but to go back to that for at least a few days. It’s a good thing the Omicron spike should be short.

I’ve joked to my daughter I should sub for her orchestra class teacher: I don’t actually know anything about teaching orchestra, but I could sure introduce those kids to some cool orchestral rock!

By the end of February, there will probably be nothing left of the COVID pandemic but some smoking embers - endemic low levels, with mortality likely less than annual flu.

Vaccinated people over 65 who get Omicron, are already showing lower mortality than from annual flu. Unvaccinated who have survived infection are likely as good or better (likely better).
