The Omaha woman who was America's oldest living person has died.
Thelma Sutcliffe was 115 years and 108 days old when she died Monday. She was born Oct. 1, 1906.
Sutcliffe's longtime friend, Luella "Lou" Mason, said Sutcliffe "was taken care of, and hospice was with her when she passed.
"She passed very peacefully. It was just time."
In April, Sutcliffe became the nation's oldest living person and seventh-oldest in the world at 114 years and 209 days.
She quietly celebrated her 115th birthday in October at her residence, Brighton Gardens senior living center.
Young Thelma
Thelma Sutcliffe, who held the title of the oldest living person in the United States, was born Oct. 1, 1906. This is a photograph of Thelma as a young woman, possibly her engagement photo, according to her friend Luella "Lou" Mason.
According to The Gerontology Research Group, just before she died, Sutcliffe became the fifth-oldest living person in the world, behind four other women.

COVID, presumably?
She was pretty.
I’ve heard of some voters, though, who were a lot older than that.
How do they know she was the oldest living person???
A whole bunch of States have registered voters that are 120 years old or more.
Memory Eternal!!!!
In April, Sutcliffe became the nation's oldest living person...
That's got to be a record. She lived 9 more months. Seems like those "awards" are a jinx because the next thing you know, the winner dies and then it's who gets to be next.
Perhaps too much excitement is involved.
Beautiful.
My hubby’s Great Aunt will (only) be 108 next month 😊
Finally, she will start voting Democrat
pretty, nice flapper hairstyle
She actually died in October but at her age, it took 90 days for her life to flash before her eyes.
It's always in threes.
Good one. :)
If her memory capacity was still intact, she’s experienced true history, I’m always amazed at what people who have lived that long have experienced.
The Wright Brothers started flying in 1903.
Teddy Roosevelt was POTUS when she was born.
She was 8 years old when WW I started in Europe.
She was 35 years old when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor
She was 63 years old when Neil Armstrong walked on moon.
She was born in the first decade of one century and lived until the 2nd decade of the next century.
Think of all things that happened in the world and in the USA during her lifetime, it’s pretty amazing to me.
They didn’t ask her what she attributed her long life to. Or maybe they did and she said, “A cigar and a glass of whiskey every day.” No way would they print that.
Do you get to see her?
She witnessed Democrats in the 1980's cheering on Russia against Reagan --- but that was back when Russia was communist. LOL
Meatloaf may be gone, but fruitcake will survive TEOTWAWKI.
That’ll be something, won’t it? When Keith Richards passes, Fruitcake will be the one with the “Look whom I outlived this week” meme.
God love her.
Teddy when she was born but it took Brandon to do her in.
