A Philadelphia man shot and killed a man who was trying to steal his car from outside his house, according to reports.

The licensed gun owner shot at least once early Tuesday after seeing three men trying to tow away his car, possibly just to rip out its catalytic converter, police told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The trio tried to flee in a gray Honda Accord, but it crashed into a school bus. Two of the thieves fled, but the third one was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital, the report said.

The shooting victim was identified as Satario Natividad, 51, by grieving relatives who demanded charges for the gunman, who was questioned by homicide detectives.

“He did not have to come out and shoot him,” one of Natividad’s lifelong friends, Tanya Dunn, told the paper.

“It was a car! All he had to do is call the police. … You don’t shoot someone out in th

Chief Inspector Frank Vanore said the investigation was being led by homicide detectives, but it was too early to make a decision on whether the shooting was justified.

A firearm was found in the crashed car along with tools and catalytic converters, police said while walking back an earlier announcement that it had been a carjacking.

Natividad’s widow, Sherell, was angered at the suggestion, asking, “How could it be a carjacking when no one was in the car?”e street over a car.”

A 51 year old guy stealing cars? That sounds like a Career Criminal to me.

“Satario Natividad, 51”

Early retirement.

Very surprising he worked that long.

If our good man shot at a fleeing car and killed this guy, he’s in a lot of trouble.

If that car was being driven at him as a weapon, different story. Or if one of the thieves was attempting to kill or injure him, he has a case.

If the family doesn’t like life here, they can go back where they came from.

Yup, and shooting someone for stealing your property guarantees they will not be doing it again.

Call the police? Who will do nothing?

If this happened more often criminals would think twice before committing crimes. If the police have no authority to protect us then what do you think is going to happen? We should all just stand around and let the criminals pick us off and rob us?

I always get a kick out of the “friends & relatives” stating he didn’t have to shoot him...it was only a car. BS. IF it was their car, you bet your bippy, they’d shoot.
Don’t do the crime and just maybe their azzes wouldn’t get shot off.

“He did not have to come out and shoot him. It was a car! All he had to do is call the police.”

Only a hundred forty years ago, you would have had zero sympathy if you’d shot a horse thief.

Yeah, calling the police would do a lot of good. Their budgets were cut and they area all understaffed. I’m sure the dead perp and his “friend” were all in favor of defunding the police. They didn’t expect that frontier vigilante justice would be UPFUNDED!

So stupid. This is why we practice V drills. Multiple targets with high accuracy. Zero reason he missed his chance to end the other two thieves BEFORE they put kids lives in danger hitting that school bus.

You should be not be able to steal something as valuable as a car and expect not to risk your life. If they dare to charge this good man there will be hell to pay.

As times get tougher under communism a theft like this could lead to economic devastation and death for the victims. Poverty due to theft can kill.

General rule of thumb should be “my property is worth more to me than your life. Is my property worth more than your life to you?”

Still want my car? Good luck troop. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest...

If the guy needed a car, why didn’t his friends and relatives give him one?
