The US Army is set to conduct a “guerrilla warfare exercise” later this month in North Carolina where troops will battle against “freedom fighters.”
Yes, really.
The two week “unconventional warfare exercise” will take from from Jan. 22-Feb. 4 on privately owned land in a remote location which remains unknown.
“Called Robin Sage, the exercise serves as a final test for Special Forces Qualification Course training and it places candidates in a politically unstable country known as Pineland,” reports the Charlotte Observer.
“These military members act as realistic opposing forces and guerrilla freedom fighters, also known as Pineland resistance movement,” said the the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center. *** As Chris Menahan notes, a similar Robin Sage exercise in 2019 showed resistance fighters displaying a flag that says “liberty.”
“They could tell these soldiers they’re battling the Chinese, Russians, Iranians, North Koreans or other foreign enemies but instead they have them training to kill “freedom fighters” with “Liberty” flags,” writes Menahan.
The exercise will do little to dampen concerns that the Biden administration is launching a de facto ‘domestic war on terror’ targeting patriots and Trump supporters. ***

I’ve heard this is a routine exercise that’s been done over the years, though others have said this is concerning. With the current regime I wouldn’t shrug this off
A dress rehearsal?
~~~
Who are the free-est people inside the U.S. right now?
Nah. They wouldn’t go after ‘undocumented americans’. Psh... what was I thinking. ‘freedom fighters’ is code for law abiding, tax-paying, patriotic citizens.
People need to relax. Robin Sage has been going on for decades and the enemy was always the “government of Pineland”.
At least 50 years.
Yep....Been there done that. Amazing how these same resistance fighter are still around after all these years. DE OPPRESSO LIBER
Routine training…. goes back decades.
True, but back in other exercises, the US Army didn’t constantly characterize normal Americans as the enemy and say the US Constitution was a racist document meant to protect white supremacy. So it’s disquieting today.
Yes, it is aimed at normal Americans now.
I don’t disagree there, but the SOCOM community has little in common with the Pampered Princes of the Pentagon, as Colonel Hackworth referred to them...
LOL...Go check out the reviews on Google for “Guerilla Village” they’re hysterical...
I remember that there was a urban warfare training exercises before:
I get flamed every time I post this but...
They WILL kill us when they are ordered to kill us.
It’s like they’ve never heard of Posse Comitatus.
Yes.
About 35% will say no.
The rest will not hesitate a second and shoot to kill.
People need to relax. Robin Sage has been going on for decades and the enemy was always the “government of Pineland”.
Sorry. FedGov has toasted its reputation in just about every way one can imagine. It’s so badly toasted that they’ve succeeded in making me think everything they do is nefarious and self serving, because I’ve yet to see evidence against this premise.
Not disagreeing with your premise, simply pointing out that this has been part of the Army’s SF training for decades and always the same fictional combatants involved. This isn’t new.
But later on, the same article says “The exercise is designed to simulate a special forces-led guerilla campaign against the forces of the United Provinces of Atlantica, a fictional island off America’s eastern seaboard. Candidates embed themselves with mock guerillas fighting on behalf of the Republic of Pineland, a United States ally.”
The Special Forces candidates fight on the same side as the freedom fighters, not against them. The article has a link with more information on Pineland's backstory:
For these exercises, the focus for students is the country of Pineland. At the start of the exercise, a military coup has split Pineland in two. Outside forces, including the neighboring UPA, have assisted the northern country, now called the Northern Pineland Province (NPP). Students from each training pipeline are tasked to utilize the specific skills they have acquired to re-unite the country. Most notably, SF students pair up with a local militia in order to provide training to conducts attacks and raids to weaken the NPP. Within this Unconventional Warfare (UW) environment students need to find the means to assist a nascent resistance movement in toppling the NPP and restoring the Republic of Pineland. The training is supposed to mimic a scenario Special Operations Forces could face in real life (e.g., Special Forces assistance to the Northern Alliance in 2001).
