It would be interesting if the AP would state on what grounds the parents are suing.

They aren’t interested in education. They only want babysitters.

Then put your kid into one of the private schools and get a voucher. Don’t mess it up for the ones who are trying to save their children.

“The suit filed Wednesday in Kanawha County Circuit Court contends the law violates the state Constitution and will siphon money away from public education, news outlets reported.”

The lawsuit presents financial nonsense.

Any funds the voucher system pays to schools outside the public school system is 100% offset by the pupils that are not costing the public school system, because they are outside of it. In reality the voucher system can help achieve a vaunted goal promoted by the public school systems and their teachers unions - smaller class size.

Public schools are failing to teach. So we need an alternative. Like, if the car won’t run anymore, you rebuilt it or get a new one. This “Car” stopping running years ago and the public has been pushing it down the road. Time to change.

The suit filed Wednesday in Kanawha County Circuit Court

The only question is:

"Stooge, or no stooge"

Yes. That’s the point.

OK Our severely underfunded public schools...

I was in one of the high schools for the largest public school system in Nebraska, a few years ago. They are always harping about never having enough money for anything. I went in to use the restroom, and THERE ON ALL OF THE TOILET PAPER AND PAPER TOWEL DISPENSERS... every item had a silkscreen paint of the LOGO for the school district.

Now, to me, that does not seem like an expense, putting the logo on the TP dispensers, that was helping to educate the children at all.

So...I really don’t have much faith in the honesty and/or sincerity of the public school “leaders”....

Math and economics must be very hard for these maroons that are suing. Yes, less money in public school system. However, there are less kids also. And, the money leaving is capped at $4600/yr. Since public schools spend more than that on average, the remaining kids in public school actually have more dollars per student.

Of course, if enough children escape, a few less communist indoctrinators would need to be employed and maybe even an entire school could be eliminated cutting costs. Actually seems like a win-win to me.

I suspect the plaintiffs are all using the same script provided by teacher unions.

Since pretty much most parents do pay property taxes and other taxes to pay for public schools, what SHOULD happen is that each kid gets a certain amount of money for school. Parents can send their kids to any school they choose to that amount of money.
If a school sucks, move to a better school. It will eliminate a lot of crappy schools, administrators, and teachers.

will siphon money away from public education,

In other words, break up the NEA monopoly on public education.
