Democrat Mark Kelly Backs Breaking Filibuster to Pass Voting Rights Reform

en. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) said in a statement on Wednesday that he would support changes to break the filibuster to pass two voting rights reform bills.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Tuesday that the Democrat-led Senate will move to strike the 60-vote threshold to advance legislation and instead replace it with a “talking filibuster.” The taking filibuster would require senators to continuously speak on the Senate floor to avoid ending debate on proposed bills. At the end of debate, the bill would require only 51 votes to pass through Congress’s upper chamber.

Kelly, who is up for reelection in 2022 in the battleground state of Arizona, said he would back the proposed reforms.

Kelly said:

If campaign finance and voting rights reforms are blocked again this week, I will support the proposed changes to pass them with a majority vote. Protecting the vote-by-mail system used by a majority of Arizonans and getting dark money out of elections is too important to let fall victim to Washington dysfunction.

If NASA functioned like the United States Senate, they would never get the rocket off the launchpad.

Actually, he had only bought that AR-15 for THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, yeah that's the ticket THE POLICE, and as a matter of fact he was on his way to THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HEADQUARTERS to give them that AR-15 at the moment the reporter and camera crew showed up and axed him about it.

So don't ax him any more questions about it...

Kelly is a gun grabbing lunatic. He stole his election too. This is like Dracula announcing he likes to drink blood. So far Kelly had stayed quiet, just being Chuckie’s windup doll at vote time.

It’s funny he comes out to announce this. Don’t we already know that all Democrats besides Sinema and Manchin are already in favor of this action?

This will make a great campaign ad. Kelly wants to destroy the US Senate, why should he be re-elected to an institution he wants to destroy?

I’d like to hate Kelly more than I already do...but I can’t. Maxed out on loathing for the bastard Mr Gabby Giffords. I think Sinema will be an Arizona senator for many years to come. Think Kelly will be heading out come November. And he’ll then draw big $$$$ from his Chinese buddies.

Yes. This would be “News” if Kelly or any other Democrat stood with Sinema and Manchin.

He’s China’s ambassador to the US Senate and it shows.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Anybody supporting this legislation is openly inviting unbridled corruption.

There should be no talking filibuster. Not every Senate tradition is worth bringing back.

Obviously, he lied!

So...the question. If voting no longer matters, then what? We’re no longer a “Constitutional representative Republic”.
I see no way out if every single legal vote is wiped out by fraud.

I don’t get why this is news. Kelly is Pocahontas with a bald head instead of a headdress. At least Sinema goes against the grain sometimes and takes heat for it. Kelly might as well be any Democrat dumbass. They are interchangeable.
