Emirates President Calls 5G Rollout Fiasco 'Most Delinquent Mess He's Seen in His Entire Career' & Blames Pete Buttigieg for Doing Nothing to Stop the Chaos
Daily Mail UK ^ | 01/19/2022 | Jennifer Smith

Sir Tim Clark, president of Emirates, appeared on Bloomberg Wednesday to blame the shambolic situation on the Biden administration which green-lit the 5G rollout without addressing the safety fears of the aviation industry first. 'I need to be as candid as I normally am and say this is one of the most delinquent, utterly irresponsible issue subjects, call it what you like, I've seen in my aviation career because it involves organs of government, manufacturers, science, etc. The notion that, for instance, the U.S. government should sell its franchise for all the frequencies for a large amount of money, somebody should have told them of the risks and dangers they placed in certain frequency uses around field, airfields, metropolitan fields. That should have been done at the time.'

'Telecom companies agreed Tuesday to limit the scope of Wednesday's planned 5G deployment and will delay implementation around certain U.S. airports. While this is a positive development toward preventing widespread disruptions to flight operations, some flight restrictions may remain,' the airline said in an announcement.

As I’ve heard, whoever first implements 5G sets the standards. That could be US. It could be China.

I’ve heard these attempted delays are intentional to allow Xi’s Chinese to launch their’s first and set the standards.

This contradicts that theory. Another thought, however, involves US hoarding frequencies beyond reason to, again, slow our (US) development and implementation.

FWIW

Yes, this is a national embarrassment.

The FCC and FAA were solely responsible for this. They did not work together for the proper implementation of 5G.

The rest of the world has rolled out 5G with no glitches like this.

We are the laughingstock of the developed world.

Another example of Biden’s incompetence.

What drama queen. 5G will not affect an aircraft

Imagine that. A guy gets promoted for no reason other than his interest in sodomy, and chaos ensues. Would never have expected it.

Who expected Mayor Buttplug to do anything?

And have you ever been to South Bend? Remove Notre Dame, and the town's just a suburb of Mishawaka.

5G will not affect an aircraft

That's not what the FAA is saying. The FAA issued a Continuing Airworthiness Notification which effectively prevents airlines flying Boeing 787 series airplanes from landing them in low visibility conditions.

"The FAA determined anomalies on Boeing Model 787-8, 787-9, and 787-10 airplanes due to 5G C-Band interference which may affect multiple airplane systems using radio altimeter data, regardless of the approach type or weather. These anomalies may not be evident until the airplane is at low altitude during approach. Impacted systems include, but are not limited to: autopilot flight director system; autothrottle system; engines; thrust reversers; flight controls; flight instruments; traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS); ground proximity warning system (GPWS); and configuration warnings."

"During landing, this interference could prevent proper transition from AIR to GROUND mode, which may have multiple effects. As a result, lack of thrust reverser and speedbrake deployment and increased idle thrust may occur; and brakes may be the only means to slow the airplane. Therefore, the presence of 5G C-Band interference can result in degraded deceleration performance, increased landing distance, and runway excursion."

You can read the CAN here.

If you think you know something the FAA, Boeing, and the avionics companies involved don't know I am sure they would welcome your input.

“... Blames Pete Buttigieg for Doing Nothing to Stop the Chaos...”

What did he expect from a lazy, AWOL, incompetent, pole smoking democrat? At least republican homosexuals are extremely competent.

The FAA does not issue CAN’s or AD’s lightly because of the potential for significant disruption in the aviation industry so I suspect that there may be something to this.

Buttygeeg needs to be fired. But he is protected! He can be replaced only by someone who enjoys a specially-protected status.

4.2 - 44 GHz is a HUGE swath of radio frequency. I’m sure that image is a typo and it’s 4.2 - 4.4 GHz.

When I was a CTT in the Navy, my interception capabilities were from 0 to 10.2 GHz...

I did a LOT of SIGSEC training of pilots, etc.

I agree. The CAN looks like it is the result of notices from Boeing. Boeing is not going to create a giant business problem with their best customers unless there is a real issue.

From Boeing's point of view a good part of their product line effectively just became un-sellable. That's a real problem.

The issue also indicates how Boeing's flight control software is susceptible to widespread problems as a result of bad sensor data. They need to work on better sensor data integration and software which does not end up making bad decisions based on a single failing or incorrectly operating sensor.
