No President has sufficient leverage to dissuade Russia from invading. What are we going to do - attack? War by proxy? Sanctions?

Well, the Russians are not cowed by winter offensives (think Stalingrad, 1942); neither are the Chinese, for that matter (think Korea in 1950). Western European armies generally do not like winter offensives, unless they have no other option.
Both the Russians and the Chinese are opportunistic in their approach to war, and both believe that they are superior to western adversaries in winter conditions (I guess they never read about Washington’s attack on Trenton on Christmas Day, 1776). However, their winter offensives tend to be limited to smaller or specifically targeted objectives, across a narrow or limited front. Not even the Russians or the Chinese would welcome a winter offensive across a wide and broad front; it would be a logistical nightmare.
I don't know what white liberal 'elites' want out of Ukraine - maybe more payoffs for Hunter Biden and the other 'children of DC 'elites'... but whatever it is I don't give a damn about it.
