“No one here is suggesting EVs be banned”

No, but some are posting outright mistruths and misinformation about EV’s because they are trying to make EV”s a political left/right issue. EV’s are new technology. That is it.

Car companies want to go to EV’s because they take a 1/3 of the labor to produce and 1/2 the parts. It’s all about maximizing profit and minimizing labor cost. Car companies don’t give a crap about the environment just as Amazon/Twitter etc don’t give a crap about gays, blm or a anything. They say they do to keep the wolves from the door.

One poster keeps saying Tesla batteries are ending up in a landfill even though on 2 different occasions I have sent the poster this below but he/she keeps posting the same thing.

Battery Recycling - Teslahttps://www.tesla.com › support › sustainability-recycling
None of our scrapped lithium-ion batteries go to landfilling, and 100% are recycled. Lithium-ion battery packs should only be handled by qualified professionals ...

Pound for pound, 1/1000th the energy of Gasoline.
***Whereas pound for pound, LENR is 50,000X that of gasoline.

“Why not have a swappable gasoline tank? No more accidental spillage at the pump!”

BRILLIANT!!! Let’s get the word out to the AOC reps here.

The steam engine was limited by tractomotive force. Diesel electrics were cheaper to operate and maintain and they were more powerful, too. There has been some experimenting with diesel-electric heavy trucks, but not much.

I have no problem with the technology. Allowed to develop without government mandates and I would be perfectly fine with it. In fact, from my experience with hybrids, if they made a hybrid F350 that would haul my fifth wheel, I would be first in line. But I live in California (for the current time) and in fifteen years, I won’t have a choice.

That is complete, 100% BS right there.

If they can afford a $100,000 toy car, they can buy their own biscuits.

MIne, too. Does so much more that I need it to do than any EV, it’s not even funny. Amusing though how a bunch of the cheerleaders are from Socal. Teslas the perfect vehicle for a place that is 75 degrees every day.

Lucid claims a 500 mile range for one of their cars. Won’t charge in 5 minutes of course.

Any EV can get that mileage if you load it with enough batteries. But then you are carrying more weight. Musk argues that it’s a mistake to go that route, that you have to balance battery capacity and performance.

Comparable arguments were made about digital cameras, credit cards, voicemail, cellphones, email,
***Invalid analogy. Those devices are moving ELECTRONS. If you increase the size of an electron to the size of the earth, it’ll weigh less than a feather. It would be incredibly easy to imagine the growth factor capability of a metal 20X stronger than steel weighing a single gram to build an entire aircraft carrier with.

“That is complete 100% bs right there.”

Do you really think Bezos cares about Blm? He treats his employees two steps above slave labor.
They only donate to these causes so their offices are not burnt down and protested and it is also a bunch of virtue signaling to please the mid level hipster staff.

You should know better after sharpton and crew threatened boycott of coca cola in the 90’s unless they “donated” to the rainbow action coalition

ev’s are not being charged at gas stations only.

Good luck with those road trips. I guess you have to stay in a hotel with a charging station every 300 miles.

EV apologists always make one flawed assumption, which is that everyone only uses their cars to commute or take short trips within cities. That’s east coast, urban corridor thinking. And please explain what happens after we eliminate “fossil fuels” and the next hurricane comes through Florida or the Gulf Coast, or an earthquake or major fire hits California. Power is typically out over huge areas for weeks after those events. Want to use a generator to get by? Oops, sorry, the EV enthusiasts decided FOR YOU that you can’t have fuel for those anymore. You say your EV battery is now dead because you needed to get around during the disaster? Gee, sorry about that, but if it makes you feel better I hear the electric ambulances, police cars, and fire engines died long before your car did, so at least there’s that. Which reminds me, you might want to be careful as you’re waiting in the dark to make sure you don’t stumble over anything and hurt yourself, given all the dead emergency “E-vehicles.”

Of course, if you do have a sudden medical emergency they could always send a helicopter for you. Might want to find out what that will cost first, though, because now that only aircraft and certain heavy vehicles that can’t be electrified use “fossil fuel”, the cost of that fuel has risen astronomically, along with the cost of thousands of everyday products that are manufactured from the hydrocarbons derived from it. It used to be a commodity, but now it’s a niche “boutique” fuel, and is priced accordingly.

Enjoy the brave new world!

The problem with EVs are two-fold:

1 - Government subsidies.

2 - Over-promising.

As long as government helps pay for them, they aren’t competitive. No objection to electric being used WHERE IT CAN COMPETE, and letting

And it DOES face huge technological challenges. It may be possible to overcome those challenges and it is fine for companies to spend their own money (and maybe be subsidized) looking for ways to do so...but we’re not close to being there yet.
