“No one here is suggesting EVs be banned”
No, but some are posting outright mistruths and misinformation about EV’s because they are trying to make EV”s a political left/right issue. EV’s are new technology. That is it.
Car companies want to go to EV’s because they take a 1/3 of the labor to produce and 1/2 the parts. It’s all about maximizing profit and minimizing labor cost. Car companies don’t give a crap about the environment just as Amazon/Twitter etc don’t give a crap about gays, blm or a anything. They say they do to keep the wolves from the door.
One poster keeps saying Tesla batteries are ending up in a landfill even though on 2 different occasions I have sent the poster this below but he/she keeps posting the same thing.
Battery Recycling - Teslahttps://www.tesla.com › support › sustainability-recycling
None of our scrapped lithium-ion batteries go to landfilling, and 100% are recycled. Lithium-ion battery packs should only be handled by qualified professionals ...
That is complete, 100% BS right there.
The problem with EVs are two-fold:
1 - Government subsidies.
2 - Over-promising.
As long as government helps pay for them, they aren’t competitive. No objection to electric being used WHERE IT CAN COMPETE, and letting
And it DOES face huge technological challenges. It may be possible to overcome those challenges and it is fine for companies to spend their own money (and maybe be subsidized) looking for ways to do so...but we’re not close to being there yet.
You left out 5/3 of the cost.
It’s all about maximizing profit and minimizing labor cost.
Some product creators manage this by low cost and volume.
