Djokovic confirms he is leaving: "I cannot stay in Australia and participate in the Australian Open."
In a statement released after his appeal was dismissed on Sunday, Novak Djokovic said he would cooperate with authorities in arranging his departure from the country and confirmed he would not be playing in the Australian Open.
He said that while he was "extremely disappointed" in the judge's decision, "I respect the Court’s ruling and I'll cooperate with the relevant authorities in relation to my departure from Australia."
He will now take time to rest and recuperate, he added, wishing good luck to fans, staff and players at the Australian Open.

Get real. A nation of people as docile and compliant as Australians will never even admit they were conned in the first place.
China may not have the naval capabilities to pull this off yet. But I'll give them a decade. This is why Australia made the nuclear submarine deal with the U.S.
What's interesting though is that China will probably acquire their blue water navy capacity before Australia gets the submarines, which would be my guess.
Their country, their rules.
With that said, this whole spectacle is an embarrassment to the Australian Open. Sporting events of a much larger magnitude have been safely conducted with some participants unvaxxed. What this suggests is that the Australian open is not confident in its ability and in the science to have competitors who are unvaccinated to participate.
should have added Queensland is even open to NSW, which has been announcing CASES of between 30,000 and 63,000 daily (sniffles).
as for why the Govt needs to keep the fear and the jabs going:

Don’t feel too bad about him. He broke rules.
Djokovic was initially given an exemption to the federal requirement that everyone entering Australia be vaccinated against the coronavirus so that he could play in the Australian Open. It was granted based on a positive test he took in Serbia on Dec. 16.
But an investigation revealed irregularities and inaccurate statements on Djokovic’s visa application — which Djokovic later acknowledged and apologized for on Wednesday. The documents failed to state that Djokovic, who lives in Monte Carlo, had traveled between Serbia and Spain during the 14 days ahead of his arrival in Australia. Djokovic attributed the error to human oversight by one of his handlers.
The Australian government also expressed concern that on Dec. 18, a day after Djokovic learned that he had tested positive, he hosted journalists at his tennis center in Belgrade for an interview and photo shoot, without informing them. Those revelations led to the second visa revocation on Friday. Zoran Gojkovic, a member of Serbia’s coronavirus crisis team, said the player’s positive test result was valid. Djokovic is not displaying a whole lot of concern for other people and loses his credibility in being trusted to isolate himself away from the Australian population while in the country with a positive test accurate.
And some current and past players are not in his favor. “The Australian Open is much more important than any player,” Rafael Nadal, who has also won 20 Grand Slam titles, said on Saturday. “If he’s playing finally, OK. If he’s not playing, The Australian Open will be a great Australian Open with or without him.”
But Martina Navratilova, the Hall of Fame player and analyst, told the Sunrise television program in Australia that Djokovic should withdraw on his own to end the drama. “It’s just the right thing to do,” she said.
No matter what people think of Australia concerning their covid actions, it is their country and they are doing what they think best. Couldn’t be any worse than the allowance of illegals entering our country with no history or testing at all and our government is not only supporting the action, they are assisting it. So each end of the scale may be wrong, but at least Australia is trying to protect rather than open the flood gates like we have. And Djokovic has not done a whole lot in his actions to stay within the limits of the exemption he received originally. He screwed up. Pay the penalty.

It's not a penalty.
He has exposed stupidity at its finest
You're welcome.
The Australian Not-Really-Open.
Does Australia have tens of thousands of illegals? They don’t have a country on their border like we do.
Perhaps they will open the Australian Not-Really-Open with their new national anthem “Retard Australia Unfair”.
Fear. They fear he will tear down their false wall of protection.
When we enter the omicron endemic, very soon, this Aussie BS will be fully exposed.
Well, the government is sending them to concentration camps.
Australia has many hundreds of thousands of illegals who had initially come in short term visas and never left. Many also claim asykum status.
Although Australia does not have a amnesty policy, it has nevertheless found it difficult to deport such people.
And I thought we were the only country with loosey goosey border control.
I don't feel bad about him, he'll be fine. Australia is the loser in this, not him. Australia now looks like the creepy Karen that yells at some kid because he doesn't wear a mask outside. The country belongs to the people of Australia and if they're OK with what their politicians are doing then it's no skin off my back. If it were my country though, I'd do my best to toss the whole lot of them out at the next election. It doesn't matter to me though, they're the ones that suffer from this idiocy.
16 Jan: XYZ.net Australia: Novak Djokovic DEPORTED To Prevent Aussie Anti-Vax Revolution
By David Hiscox
“It’s not just the applicant’s public statements that he is opposed to vaccination, it is the fact of his ongoing non-vaccinated status,” (the government’s barrister, Stephen Lloyd, SC) said.
“He could have been vaccinated if he wanted to be”.
Mr Lloyd has backed up the minister’s view that Djokovic’s mere presence in Australia could whip up anti-vax sentiment.
“The concern is that he’s a high profile person and in many respects a role model so that his presence in Australia would present more strongly to Australians his anti-vaccination views,” Mr Lloyd said.
“The applicant has a history of ignoring safety measures.”...
Mr Lloyd said Djokovic was a known “icon” for anti-vaxxers.
He made that statement as he was being quizzed by Justice James Allsop on whether the minister had provided enough proof that the tennis star was indeed someone anti-vaxxers looked up to.
Mr Lloyd said it was “common sense” and “uncontroversial” that celebrities could influence people, after all that’s why advertisers paid them to spruik their products.
He called Djokovic an “icon” on at least three occasions...

It’s their country. It’s their sovereign rule.
If a visitor does not want to follow the immigration laws of a country he or she enters? He has no room to bellyache. Same with our sovereignty. I’d be a hypocrite to insist any different based on my immigration related postings here for many years (particular illegal immigration).
True and like Idi Amin they can rig any competition within their borders so that they choose the winner. The rest of the world will call them out for their fraud.
It’s their country. It’s their sovereign rule.
Yes. North Korea is the country of people who live there. They make the rules.
