Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, a Democrat candidate for governor in the Sunshine State, compared her potential general election opponent Gov. Ron DeSantis to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler during an interview that aired on Florida Public Radio’s “The Florida Roundup” on Friday.
Host Melissa Ross asked Fried if she regretted her past comparisons, to which Fried said she did not and doubled down.
“Not at all,” she replied. “Growing up in Miami, and having neighbors that were Cubans, hearing stories of so many of our Floridians who have left dictatorships, and socialism, and communist countries, and coming here to the state of Florida for capitalism, for open opportunities to succeed. He is doing everything possible to take away power from local governments, taking away people’s ability to protest, making it harder to vote, talking about, you know, banning books. That’s what dictators do. Instead of listening and trying to govern with the people, he is trying to govern over the people.”
“You know, I’m sorry — I’m a student of history too,” Fried continued. “I saw the rise of Hitler. I’ve learned of those stories.”
Fried was interrupted by the host and asked if she was comparing DeSantis to Hitler.
“In a lot of ways, yes,” she replied. “I have studied Hitler and how he got to power, you know, wanting his own militia and having his own militia.”

I'm hoping that the targeting of parents at school boards, the accelerated deplatforming of conservatives, the censoring of leading scientists in their fields who go against the leftist narrative, the Biden/Harris general malaise, and the mid-term and 2024 elections, will transform the media landscape by the time that DeSantis is ready to step up to the presidential layer.

IIRC from a column a couple months ago, DeSantis is polling so well, and Nikki Fried so horribly, that the Democrat Governors Association is withholding funds from the FL 2024 gubernatorial race.

If DeSantis were really the new Hitler, people from wouldn’t be flooding Florida from states run by Democrats. States that mandate vaccines, masks, let criminals run wild, teach racism in the schools, states that purposely infected nursing home patients, have racist medical policies, high taxes, etc.
Now that makes a statement as well as making me hungry.
