Senate Minority Whip John Thune said this week that Republicans "welcome" former President Donald Trump's help in taking back the Senate majority, but repeating his false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen "takes our eyes off the ultimate prize."
"President Trump still has a tremendous following among our supporters across the country and, you know, exercises that influence, or at least attempts to, on a daily basis," Thune, R-S.D., told Fox News. "But I think ultimately for us as Republican senators our job right now is to try to get the majority back in 2022 and provide that check and balance against this crazy Biden administration agenda."

Another GOP chicken sh!t
*************
The only "check and balance" politicians care about is checks in the form of political donations and payoffs, and how it raises the balance in their own accounts. Its all about money to them.
Instead of whining maybe the Republicans should trying winning (Trump style) for a change.

They had to really parse out his words to say ‘false claims’ if you notice He never said anything about FALSE in his own words. The term ‘False Claims’ is a phrase that’s added by the writer of the story. Thune doesnt appear to have said that. What he does say is that relitigating the election of 2020 doesnt help us in 2022. That I agree with. But the writer thought it necessary to try to stuff the ‘false claims’ words in his mouth.
Methinks Trump caught between a rock and a hard place .... taking control of House and Senate by advocating for (R)’s and then having to advocate or not for RINOs......
I do hope SANE people in South Dakota get rid of Thune. He REALLY is playing for the other team.
They are because he’s trying to remind you that you better keep your eyes open and camera on it’ll also encourage more volunteers who won’t walk out and go home and let The enemies count the ballots
Another Assistant Democrat opens its pie hole.
Thune desperately needs to be primaried by a REAL conservative.
He’s just another limp-wristed, McConnell yes-man.
The GOP plan has always been to memory hole the 2020 election. Sadly, many weak and stupid voters are happy to “move on” from our disenfranchisement in 2020 and go back to voting for their favorite swamp GOPer.
Buffoon Thune
Yeah, just sweep that lump under the rug. Nobody will notice.
Mitch’s designated heir sux.
So Senator, you believe that the 2020 elections were completely fair and honest? And therefore see no need to create or enforce legislation that requires photo ID’s, ends the use of drop boxes and most mail in ballots? And, on top of that, you plan to be the next Senate Majority Leader when McConnell retires soon?
Just who do you think you are Senator, other than a man that’s likely to get his way?
If you live in Washington DC, the group-think and propaganda are soooo strong, independent thought is nearly impossible.
Bingo. Spot on assessment.
Trump is just speaking for his voters. It’s we the people upset about the steal.
What he does say is that relitigating the election of 2020 doesnt help us in 2022.
The GOP has no incentive to reform if voters do not hold them accountable for their role in the fully bipartisan coup that stole President Trump’s term in office. Thune knows he owns the GOP base voter and they will not politically radicalize in defense of the Constitutional republic.
