Sinema says no to filibuster reform and scuttles Democrats’ voting rights hopes
The Guardian ^ | Jan 13, 2022

Kyrsten Sinema publicly and bluntly reaffirmed she would not support any change to the filibuster rules on Thursday, effectively killing her party’s hope of passing the most sweeping voting rights protections in a generation.

Sinema took to the Senate floor around noon on Thursday and said she would not support any changes to the filibuster, the Senate rule that requires 60 votes to advance legislation.

“While I continue to support these [voting rights] bills, I will not support separate actions that worsen the underlying disease of division infecting our country,” said Sinema, a first-term Democrat from Arizona.

“We must address the disease itself, the disease of division, to protect our democracy, and it cannot be achieved by one party alone. It cannot be achieved solely by the federal government. The response requires something greater and, yes, more difficult than what the Senate is discussing today.”…

Marty should go back for English comprehension remediation. Nobody is losing their right to vote and I cannot take anyone who makes this crap up seriously.

For them it’s the rights of illegals/non-citizens to vote.

See how they call them protections as if my vote is not going to be counted without their law. The protection they are making is for the right of people to cheat. My vote is only protected without any new laws.

She dabs her skin with pretty smells
Concealing to appeal
“I will make my bed”
She said, but turned to go
Can she be late for her Sinema show?

She’s still a rat. Manchin is too. I saw him say, “While I am against eliminating the filibuster, I am for the election bill.” (paraphrasing) He’s trying to have it both ways. A man of zero constitutional principles.

It’s no wonder Biden’s SOTU address has been pushed out (so I’ve heard.) There’s truly nothing going his way.

They hired a fantastic pudding chef at the WH, that's good.

Jen is now getting hammered about the Sinema statements, She is visibly pis*ed. The WH must know they are done.

Some reporter is hammering Jen with a big hammer. Now she’s putting lipstick on a pig. I’m glad at least one reporter finally said they are failing at everything and are they going to change course.

American Congressman and Republican Rhinos combined."

But why are they Democrats?
What is it about the Democrat Party that attracts them?

I’ve been a Republican all my life, 1st voted for Reagan and then all the way through to Trump. Some real stinkers between Reagan and Trump.

The Democrats at least pretend to care about working people and the middle class. They don’t really care of course.

The Republican’s don’t even bother to pretend to care about working people/middle class. They cater non-stop to big business. Big Business that often throws conservatives under the bus. A form of Stockholm syndrome.

I have listened for YEARS to the Dems talking about how tightening the voter ID standards is somehow “discriminatory” toward minorities. The very distinct impression that I have is that the Dems are essentially saying that blacks and other minorities (principally Latinos) are simply too stupid to obtain valid identification documents to prove their eligibility to vote. I am not a minority (not by skin color, that is), but *I* find that to be incredibly insulting...and I would love to see what your thoughts on this issue are.
