Over the past few years, I've encountered various statistics that ruined my day, so to spread the pain, I've collected a few here. Let's start with:
1. The nuclear family fades in the USA:
According to a Pew Research study, the United States has the highest number of children living in single-parent households. Almost one fourth (23%) of children in the U.S. under the age of 18 live with one parent and no other adult, which is the highest in the world.
2. Astronomical debt:
Our national debt in 2021 was over 28 trillion dollars. This was 122% of GDP. That ratio is important because investors worry about default when the debt-to-GDP ratio is greater than 77% — that's the tipping point. To give you an idea of how big a trillion is, then sun is less than half a trillion feet away from the Earth.
3. Tens of millions can't read:
More than 30 million adults in the United States cannot read, write, or do basic math above a third-grade level.
4. But our competitors can read:
China in 2015 awarded 1.2 million bachelor's degrees in science and engineering, according to the National Science Foundation, six times the number in the United States, and the absolute number of Chinese graduates as well as the ratio of Chinese to American graduates have grown since then.
5. We're not having kids:
America's total fertility rate fell in 2020 to just 1.67 births per female, the lowest in history, and well below the replacement level of 2.1.
6. And those of us who do have kids are often the poorest:
In 2017, the birth rate in the United States was highest in families that had under 10,000 U.S. dollars in income per year, at 66.44 births per 1,000 women.

We didn’t kill all the Democrats when we had the chance in 1865. So they bring us down today.
If the Confederates, who were no longer Democrats, had won then those stats would be entirely different and not alarming.
That may be true, but we have A LOT more lawyers than they do.

“More than 30 million adults in the United States cannot read, write, or do basic math above a third-grade level.”
____________
How many of those adults are illegal aliens?
The OECD countries, and China, already have very low birth-rates, due to fiat money, debt, socialism, abortion, feminism, etc... We also see spiking death rates due to addiction, suicide, accident, etc...
2020 and Covid lock-downs greased the skids on this phenomenon, but media and government are treating it as a "one off."
It is not. over the next 5 years, we will see DEPOPULATION trends explode.
The loss of the family structure is frightening. Many of the 20s somethings are not getting married - let alone married through the church.
Then italian mob had it right... Kill him and his entire family!!
Yet there are still some who cling to the notion this country can survive into the future in its present form.
All old news and my day is fine. You got another country that looks better, move there.
That is an interesting comment.
It would not be until the 1940s that the world would have one word to describe your aspiration of exterminating all those you don't like.
RE: It would not be until the 1940s that the world would have one word to describe your aspiration of exterminating all those you don’t like.
If you believe the Bible as history, didn’t God order King Saul to exterminate the Amalekites including all cattle?
And when Saul spared just the King of Amalek, the Prophet Samuel was told to have him deposed...
‘If you believe the Bible as history...’
then Hitler, Mao, and Stalin are all pikers compared to God...
RE: then Hitler, Mao, and Stalin are all pikers compared to God...
You got it. Let’s see....Sodom and Gomorah, and of course the WHOLE WORLD except 8 people earlier than that.
Comes now the ultimate moral justification for the northern invasion: God told Abraham Lincoln to kill 750,000 Americans.
He could have stopped at number 1. All the others are just consequences of that one.
And when the inevitable consequences happen, they will blame everyone but themselves...
...do basic math above a third-grade level...

About 5 years ago or so, we were due to rewrite a managed forest contract. The forester was about 40, Mid-Western born & bred, and he needed a calculator for simple arithmetical operations we could do in our heads.
A former neighbor’s son, perhaps 22-23, holds a job as a loan officer. I have watched him struggle over simple multiplications. He uses a template in his job that does things automatically.
And I, by my elderly standards, am notoriously anumerical, but those multiplication memorizations stick around a looooooooooooong time.
