Posted on 01/12/2022 6:08:54 PM PST by nickcarraway
NOVAK DJOKOVIC'S visa is apparently set to be cancelled again tomorrow with Australia's immigration minister Alex Hawke set to give the Serb the boot. Australia's The Saturday Paper journalist Paul Bongiorno claims a decision is already made and the world No 1 will be deported.
Djokovic may face five years in jail as Covid test error investigated
He tweeted: "I am hearing @AlexHawkeMP will boot out the Joker tomorrow."
Djokovic's visa was initially cancelled upon arrival after hours of interrogation by Border Force officials.
A judge overturned that decision in court on Monday after Djokovic had spent five days detained in an immigration hotel.
The 20-time Grand Slam winner immediately hit the practice courts at Melbourne Arena after he was released by the authorities.
However, there were a number of inconsistencies with his Covid tests and Hawke launched an inquiry to do a deep dive into the situation.
An announcement is expected to be made on Thursday but Bongiorno, who has deep contacts in Australian politics, reckons Djokovic's fate is sealed.
Djokovic posted a statement on Instagram to try and clear up any confusion over his visa application.
He wrote: "On the issue of my travel declaration, this was submitted by my support team on my behalf as I told immigration officials on my arrival - and my agent sincerely apologises for the administrative mistake in ticking the incorrect box about my previous travel before coming to Australia.
"This was a human error and certainly not deliberate. We are living in challenging times in a global pandemic and sometimes these mistakes can occur.
Australia has gone full fascist.
What a bunch of Commie creeps.
I am a big fan of Djokovic. He may not be as artistic as Federer but he has more heart and more of the grinder than just about anyone. Too bad he’ll miss the Aussie Open. But really what difference does it make if Djoko is vaccinated or not if everyone else is?
Australian petty bickering and incompetence in the face of the Chinese threat rivals our own.
Who would want to go to Australia? Granny arresting bastards.
My opinion of the Australian Govt and I guess the people that earned it... it’s not so good right now.
Serbia should give him diplomatic status and tell australia to pound sand.
It’s especially important now that we know from the Pfizer CEO that vaccinations don’t prevent transmission.
Hurts Australia more.
Their choice to make.
He is more fun to watch, but he can be his own worst enemy.
Clearly he must take the vaccination that doesn’t work so the vaccination all the others took that doesn’t work will work.
If only one Australian politician’s political life is saved.....
[Maybe something was lost in the translation from the original Austrian?]
Thanks for clearing that up!
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO NOT GO ALONG WITH THE PROGRAM
NEVERMIND ITS NOT A VAXX
YOU CANT SAY NO TO US ANYMORE
YOUR CHOICE IS TO DO WHATEVER WE TELL YOU OR BE PUNISHED
The countries like the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, Austria, etc, that sick dogs on protesters, beat them with batons, lock them up, etc, and enforce draconian lockdowns... when are they going to do all of this to the elite who violate the rules that are for others but not for them in their own countries or after they return to their home countries off of vacations when others are stuck in their homes?
other reports say announcement will be made at 3pm Melbourne time, when the Australia Open Draw is to be announced.
meanwhile, neither Djokovic nor Voracova are COVID POSITIVE (the WTA Czech player deported and banned from re-entering Australia for 3 years over her medical exemption - who was targeted after criticism that Djokovic was being unfairly singled out given Tennis Australia boss said a “handful” of players/and or their teams were exempted).
other players who got medical exemptions have still not been outed.
YET none of the following were detained in quarantine hotels nor threatened with deportation:
26 Dec: Tennis.com: DENIS SHAPOVALOV TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 UPON ARRIVAL IN AUSTRALIA
The Canadian’s news follows Rafael Nadal, Belinda Bencic and others who also tested positive in Abu Dhabi.
By Kamakshi Tandon
The Australian Open is bracing for more player positives following Denis Shapovalov’s announcement that he had tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Sydney, but organizers say competitors can complete isolation requirements in time to play the Grand Slam event.
Shapovalov is among several pros to have tested positive since appearing at the exhibition event in Abu Dhabi, including Rafael Nadal, Belinda Bencic and Ons Jabeur. Nadal’s coach Carlos Moya has also tested positive, as had Emma Raducanu prior to the event.
Most of the total of 3,300 players, team members and personnel will arrive for the Australian swing in the next few days on specially chartered flights. All are required to have been vaccinated ***OR RECEIVED A MEDICAL EXEMPTION, which Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said this week HAS BEEN GIVEN ONLY TO VERY FEW IN THIS GROUP***...
since then, Australian player, Nick Kyrgios, has tested positive. can’t even recall if there are more.
13 Jan: UK Telegraph: Renata Voracova reveals she was told to undress during questioning by Australian border force officials
by Fiona Tomas
Renata Voracova, the Czech player who was deported from Australia because of her Covid vaccination status, has revealed she was ordered to undress during her lengthy interrogation by border force officials.
Doubles specialist Voracova was detained in Melbourne on the same visa grounds as Novak Djokovic last week, having initially been permitted to enter the country after being granted a medical exemption to compete at the Australian Open.
But she was detained in Melbourne last Friday before having her visa revoked and was subsequently deported from the country, despite having already played in a warm-up tournament in Melbourne...
“It was as if I were watching a film - a long interrogation with instructions such as ‘undress, get dressed’. Yuck, I don’t even want to think about it, let alone live it again,” Voracova told Russian newspaper Denik, adding that she burst into tears during questioning which lasted up to six hours.
Voracova has vowed to demand compensation from Tennis Australia, including the 60,000 Czech crowns (£2,000) she spent on her flight for herself and her coach to Australia.
“And then there is all that time, hotels, training for the grand slam, the potential prize money,” added Voracova...
Speaking about her ordeal with BBC Russian, Voracova insisted she had intended to be vaccinated against Covid but suffered medical complications after contracting the virus, which prevented her getting the jab.
11 Jan: Rumble: 51m: Tennys Sandgren on His Refusal to Play in Australia, Vaccine Mandates and the Djokovic controversy
by Glenn Greenwald
The American tennis player Tennys Sandgren has earned much of his career success in Australia. But this year he chose to stay at home, in protest of its vaccine mandates. I spoke to him about why he made such a self-sacrificing decision in defense of this principle, the Novak Djokovic controversy, and vaccine mandates generally.
Those Australians who have been denied the ability to return to their country during the lockdowns have been given a wonderful GIFT.
They should be thankful they cannot re-enter the lunatic dictatorship.
It is as if the German Nazi’s refused to re-admit their own citizens who happen to be overseas in the late 1930’s.
Is there an appeal?
