If the decision is made - and while I think it is likely at this point, this is just a newspaper reporting a rumour - yes, an appeal is possible.

But an appeal in time for him to play... unlikely.

When the Immigration Dept cancels the visa, the person is taken straight away to detention. It is unavoidable as this is Australian law, unless the person makes a asylum claim.

Yes appeal against visa cancellation is possible, but the person involved will still be in jail while the appeal is considered ( for those making asylum claims they can stay in the community outside).

It is almost impossibe for Djokovic to play this years AU open if his visa is cancelled.

If the players had any courage they would all boycott the Open. But....follow the money. Courage of ones convictions are hard to find these days.

***am presuming it’s the Judge who wants “ample notice to prepare for future proceedings”, should Djokovic appeal, which he could and probably would. would “ample time” cover the period of the tournament, thus allowing Djokovic to participate by default? don’t know:

11 Jan: Daily Mail UK: Australian Open is put on RED ALERT for violence in the stands if Novak Djokovic plays - amid calls for country to be STRIPPED of the tournament over its treatment of the tennis superstar
By KYLIE STEVENS and PADRAIG COLLINS
However, there is no time limit on the minister’s power to cancel the visa and can be done whenever he decides there is enough evidence that there is a ground to do so and if it’s in the public interest.

***Judge Anthony Kelly noted if Djokovic was to be deported through an order from Mr Hawke, he could be forbidden from returning to Australia for three years, though there would be discretion to allow him back in for next year’s Open.

***He told the court in no uncertain terms that if the government does consider this motion, ***he must be given ample notice to prepare for future proceedings.

Until then, Djokovic is free to remain in Australia and compete at the Open - which starts on January 17 - where he will bid to become the most-decorated men’s singles player of all time.

As a matter of Law Djokovic won. But the Health Minister is going to throw him out based upon “false statements”. Kinda sounds like our FBI.
