‘They underestimated this virus.’ Omicron cuts through U.S. defenses despite Biden’s efforts
LA Times ^

After the Omicron variant began spreading through the United States just before the holidays, President Biden unleashed what he described as a sweeping effort to bolster the country’s defenses.
He pledged reinforcements for overwhelmed hospitals, more home tests to screen for infections and new investments in vaccine access.
But little seems to be slowing Omicron’s spread, despite Biden’s insistence that he’s “confident we are on the right track” as the pandemic enters its third year. Although vaccines are preventing what could have otherwise been a devastating death toll, hospitals are being pushed to their limits. Meanwhile, Americans are frustrated with confusing public health guidance, the struggle to find tests and renewed uncertainty over whether schools will keep their classrooms open.
Biden plans to update the country on his administration’s efforts on Thursday, a speech that comes as his administration faces escalating criticism from health experts and even some former advisors.
“The big tragedy here is that we came through last winter and even the summer, and never did the work to address the structural issues that are putting us back in the situation that we’re in right now,” said Dr. Megan Ranney, academic dean at the Brown University School of Public Health. “Nothing that is happening today is unpredictable.”
Some of today’s challenges are rooted in decisions made months ago, said Dr. Rick Bright, a public health expert at the Rockefeller Foundation and a former member of Biden’s transition team. He said administration officials failed to prepare for more contagious variants when Biden declared on the Fourth of July that the country was “closer than ever to declaring our independence from a deadly virus.”

But some of Biden’s allies have also urged the administration to make a course correction.Former members of Biden’s transition team have written in medical journals that policymakers need to prepare for a “new normal,” shifting from a state of emergency to improving the public health infrastructure to help the country cope with the coronavirus as a permanent threat.
Dr. Celine Gounder, an infectious disease expert at New York University who co-authored one of the articles, said the administration has focused on vaccinations while neglecting other strategies.
Now even the LA Times and hios former advisors are throwing the "if you get the jab, you won't get this virus" one trick pony under the bus.

Well, except for this lil tidbit of information from the CDC in December 2021:
https://www.cdc.gov/csels/dls/locs/2021/12-03-2021-lab-alert-CDC_Update_SARS-CoV-2_Omicron_Variant.html
***Not my information***
What Laboratories Should Know:
There are no authorized, cleared, or approved diagnostic tests to specifically detect SARS-CoV-2 variants (Omicron or other variants). Currently, COVID-19 tests are designed and authorized to check broadly for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, not for specific variants.
The Omicron variant has a deletion in the spike (S) gene (Δ69-70). Some molecular tests with multiple genetic targets include a target covering the portion of the S gene where the deletion occurs. The presence of this mutation can result in an S-gene target failure (SGTF, also referred to as an S-gene drop out). The S-gene target will fail (return as negative) while other targets are expected to remain positive in the presence of this virus. SGTF can signal the need for sequencing to characterize the variant in a specimen.
SGTF has been observed in other variants and thus is not specific to the Omicron variant
When one can refer to the sometimes “beloved” CDC and find information such as this, those who cite the CDC as secular gospel ignore Data such as this. This would include all the previous “variants” breathlessly announced in past months.
Continuing the citation: “Results regarding the presence of the Omicron variant, or any other variant, should not be reported back to patients or providers and cannot be used for diagnostic purposes.”
CANNOT BE USED FOR DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSE.
Odd, that.

The CDC said today that the current death toll is attributable to the Delta variant, not the Omicron. Misinformation from the LAT?

The Vax shows evidence of increasing uselessness as new variants emerge - yet the stupid bureaucrats at the DoD and in the White House have destroyed trust in the military to push the Vax on everyone.
these people are not leaders.

Pfizer CEO: Our Vaccines Offer ‘Limited, If Any Protection’

Speaking during remarks to a J.P. Morgan healthcare conference this week, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla openly stated current vaccines the company developed for Wuhan coronavirus offer “limited, if any” protection against contracting current variants of the disease. He then encouraged booster shots.
The statement from Bourla comes as the Biden administration continues to justify vaccine mandates for federal workers, contractors and private businesses. The Supreme Court heard arguments about President Biden’s mandates for private companies and medical workers last week. A ruling is expected soon on the constitutionality of the mandates.
A number of people who have pointed out the waning efficacy of Pfizer’s vaccines, which Bourla touted last year as being “100 percent” effective against contracting or transmitting the virus, have been banned by social media companies.

Omicron Makes Biden’s Vaccine Mandates Obsolete!:
by: Luc Montagnier and Jed Rubenfeld 2022-01-09 Source: Dr. Kelli Ward
Federal courts considering the Biden administration’s vaccination mandates—including the Supreme Court at Friday’s oral argument—have focused on administrative-law issues. The decrees raise constitutional issues as well. But there’s a simpler reason the justices should stay these mandates: the rise of the Omicron variant.
It would be irrational, legally indefensible and contrary to the public interest for government to mandate vaccines absent any evidence that the vaccines are effective in stopping the spread of the pathogen they target. Yet that’s exactly what’s happening here.
Both mandates—from the Health and Human Services Department for healthcare workers and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for large employers in many other industries—were issued Nov. 5. At that time, the Delta variant represented almost all U.S. Covid-19 cases, and both agencies appropriately considered Delta at length and in detail, finding that the vaccines remained effective against it.
Those findings are now obsolete.
As of Jan. 1, Omicron represented more than 95% of U.S. Covid cases, according to estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Because some of Omicron’s 50 mutations are known to evade antibody protection, because more than 30 of those mutations are to the spike protein used as an immunogen by the existing vaccines, and because there have been mass Omicron outbreaks in heavily vaccinated populations, scientists are highly uncertain the existing vaccines can stop it from spreading. As the CDC put it on Dec. 20, “we don’t yet know . . . how well available vaccines and medications work against it.”

When I got covid a few weeks ago I searched the Internet for general help with symptoms for the public. At home treatments. Nothing! CDC—nothing.
I had to learn this from conservative outlets: Zicam, quercetin, Zinc, Vit C and D, Sudafed with milk, tonic water with quinine, the oxygen finger sensor, tea with honey, etc.
How irritating that the only way to get medical advice from a virus the whole nation is suffering from is from conservative websites!
Yes “get vaxxed” is just one tool in the toolbox and obviously not a great one.
To: Vendome
in re: the PCR test— absolutely and it was true in early 2020— they should never have used it, and the “cases, cases, cases”... fear porn plandemic was the purpose in using a test which gave 98% false positive results (responding to the many small segments of OTHER coronaviruses people had been exposed to... small segments of that part of that virus’s S-Protein, producing a “positive” for Covid. Simply ridiculous, and so on Dec. 11 (announced back in Sept 2021) the CDC no longer validates the PCR. The antigen tests can indeed detect the dropout gene segment.
But— omicron is 1.) very infectious for a 2.) so -what also mutated non-lethal variant of the actual virion full code. This is being noticed all over with improper data quoting, and also being purposely ignored to maintain the “fear” crap. As in this article. The US should be reassured that Fort Detrick- who did the full virion genetic de-code for Covid 19, has their own extremely nasty (and for an ethical country, illegal) bioweapons and knowledge of the “new” ones.
See: “National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center” at Fort Detrick, MD. US Army contracted to Batelle Corporation which runs the place. Background:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Biodefense_Analysis_and_Countermeasures_Center
notable in the summary:
“January 2018, the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity selected Battelle to create a software platform able to fight the development of synthetic biological threats.” and conveniently (with Bill Gates and Fauci in the mix) the “synthetic” showed up in Fall of 2019. Trump wanted to reduce the funding and voila!
