EU regulators caution that too many booster shots could weaken immune systems

Boosters "not something that we can think should be repeated constantly" – European Medicines Agency" Marco Cavaleri

-----------------------------------------------------------

Regulators in the European Union warned recently that receiving frequent COVID-19 booster shots could have an adverse affect on the immune system.

According to the European Medicines Agency, receiving a booster every four months could ultimately weaken an individual's immune system. For that reason, the agency is recommending that countries space out booster campaigns and have them correspond with the onset of cold and flu season.

The recommendation arrives as a number of countries contemplate offering residents another round of booster shots as a way to fight the Omicron variant of the virus. Individuals over 60 in Israel can now receive a second booster shot (fourth shot total).

The head of biological health threats and vaccines strategy at the European Medicines Agency, Marco Cavaleri, said boosters are "not something that we can think should be repeated constantly."

"We need to think about how we can transition from the current pandemic setting to a more endemic setting," he said, matching the recent comments of WHO envoy Dr. David Nabarro.

The highly contagious Omicron variant has been spreading rapidly across the globe (more than 2.8 million new cases of the virus were reported Tuesday), though early evidence suggests symptoms from Omicron may be less severe than previous strains.

Moderna only effective with sustained boosting, and even then not so much against Omicron.

No problem.

Just claim it was COVID every time the weakened people get some sickness and die.

European Union regulators warned that frequent Covid-19 booster shots could adversely affect the immune system and may not be feasible.

Repeat booster doses every four months could eventually weaken the immune system and tire out people, according to the European Medicines Agency. Instead, countries should leave more time between booster programs and tie them to the onset of the cold season in each hemisphere, following the blueprint set out by influenza vaccination strategies, the agency said.

The advice comes as some countries consider the possibility of offering people second booster shots in a bid to provide further protection against surging omicron infections. Earlier this month Israel became the first nation to start administering a second booster, or fourth shot, to those over 60. The U.K. has said that boosters are providing good levels of protection and there is no need for a second booster shot at the moment, but will review data as it evolves.

Boosters “can be done once, or maybe twice, but it’s not something that we can think should be repeated constantly,” Marco Cavaleri, the EMA head of biological health threats and vaccines strategy, said at a press briefing on Tuesday. “We need to think about how we can transition from the current pandemic setting to a more endemic setting.”

Once again I can just hear my buddy Seth saying "Oh, ya tink!" in his heavy Brooklyn accent tinged with sarcasm...

Initially the vaccines were the shizzle and were going to end this. One and done.

Then the claim was we would need a booster.

Then maybe a booster yearly.

No, wait, probably a booster every six (6) months.

Well, really every four (4) months might be better against the Delta variant.

Protection against Omicron is significantly reduced after just two (2) months so...

It would appear the pharma companies and our own home grown fascist leadership is headed the other way. Of course, what do you expect from the {censored} profiting from the shots? Does anyone really expect the head of Pfizer to come out and admit "Our shots don't provide any meaningful or reasonable protection against Omicron. But Omicron's symptoms are so mild (relatively) that people should just go back to their normal lives. If they get Omicron then they'll have natural immunity." Yeah, and monkeys might fly out of my backside too.

I took the shots only b/c it was a condition of seeing my family.

I’ll never take another booster shot again as long as I live - even if it means meeting my family only on the Zoom.

Thanks, yet

"regulators from the European Union warned " But no source link from this new aggregator, thus requiring us to try to track down this story from a EU source - which story is likewise parroted by a number of other sites which provide no source link - if we hope to use it to combat the Covid overreaction in this culture war. The best I could verify it by is from a report by Eilish O'Regan (January 11 2022 07:28 PM) of the independent.ie (linked to by IBT.com)

Ireland and other EU countries have been warned they cannot "booster" their way through the pandemic with another vaccine every three to four months as we risk overloading the immune system.... He expressed doubts about the need for a fourth booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine and said there is currently no data to support this approach as it seeks more data on the fast-spreading Omicron variant. He raised concerns that a strategy of giving boosters every four months hypothetically poses the risk of overloading people's immune systems and leading to fatigue in the population... Around 500,000 people in Ireland were infected with Omicron last week as it raced through the population...He hoped that the Omicron variant would create a lot of natural immunity due to the numbers infected.
