The House committee examining the Jan. 6 attack disclosed on Tuesday that it had interviewed the man at the center of a right-wing conspiracy theory about who provoked the violence, noting that he had denied reports he urged protesters into the Capitol at the behest of federal law enforcement agencies.
The committee said its investigators spoke in November with the man, Ray Epps, who was seen on video urging people to march into the Capitol. Some Republican members of Congress and other supporters of former President Donald J. Trump have promoted a theory that Mr. Epps was working for the F.B.I. and encouraging the attack at its direction.
As evidence, they have cited the fact that Mr. Epps was at one point listed on the bureau’s wanted list but was then removed from it without being arrested or charged with any wrongdoing.
In a statement, the House committee said Mr. Epps told the panel he is not an F.B.I. informant and was not working at the direction of law enforcement agencies when he encouraged protesters to enter the building.
“The Select Committee is aware of unsupported claims that Ray Epps was an F.B.I. informant based on the fact that he was on the F.B.I. wanted list and then was removed from that list without being charged,” Tim Mulvey, a spokesman for the House committee, said in the statement. “The Select Committee has interviewed Mr. Epps. Mr. Epps informed us that he was not employed by, working with or acting at the direction of any law enforcement agency on Jan. 5 or 6 or at any other time, and that he has never been an informant for the F.B.I. or any other law enforcement agency.”

“Raymond Epps is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.”
Something here is not quite right.
Well that seals it then. If Epps "told" them then it must be true.
Most likely it comes down to a Clintonian parsing of "informant." Epps probably worked with the FBI but not strictly for the FBI. That flimsy reed is enough for the Democrats to pretend--with help from their lapdog media of course--that there's no there there.
How about a statement by the FBI that “Ray Epps is not, and has never been a federal agent, informant, employee etc.”
Let the director make the statement under oath.
But of course, the FBI is only responsible to the FBI.
LOL, so they found an insurrectionist they feel the need to rush to the defense of.
Clowns.
It’s even possible that Epps didn’t know who he was working for or being influenced by. FBI moles could have been egging him on without his knowledge of who they were. And the Times is lying when it says the suspicions about Epps (and others, I might add) are “unfounded.” They are founded on the FACT that Epps, Stewart Rhodes, and several other high-profile actors on that day have NOT been charged with anything despite video and other evidence showing them taking leadership roles.
“We know from the Whitmer kidnap plot, and others before, that the FBI plays this incitement and entrapment game quite a bit, so it is not crazy to think they played a role on January 6th.”
I also want to know how much meth the FBI provided to the cop fighters and window breakers leading up to and on Jan 6th. Some of those dudes looked jacked up on something.
I’ve seen the same tweaker type violence play out in Kenosha, Portland & Seattle. The appearance and methods of the perpetrators have been similar in every riot.
Hmmm.....interesting... very interesting.
“Raymond Epps is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.”
Salt of the earth, a guy you want drink a beer with.
Fixed it.
Yep, I agree with all of that.
I doubt we ever get honest answers, the narrative is all that matters at this point.
I was working so I missed live footage of Jan 6th, but saw some footage later that day.
I agree with your girlfriend, a lot of peoples actions that day looked phony and rehearsed.
How about a little “equal justice under the law”.
Organizer Ray Epps goes free, and is thanked for cooperating. Grandma is ushered in by Capitol police and spends 1 year in prison without a trial.
Yes. Good points.
It is much more than simply odd that New York Times and the left in general are defending someone who is supposedly part of a pro Trump rally that led to an insurrection. They seem to want to paint all Trump supporters with a broad brush. So it is very peculiar that they rush to the defense of this man.
‘
IG Horowitz said the FBi Get Trump Op was not political.
Buried 300 pages in, he determined it wasn’t political because he asked Strzok if he made his decisions based on Politics, and he responded, no,
Epps was getting paid cash, like Christoper Steele.
Spy Stephan Halper tried to get hired by Trump.

Why wasn’t the hearing live?
They tried to ignore this, but people are catching on. So the word has gone out to lie about it.
