Novak Djokovic has sensationally admitted to lying on his entry declaration, saying “human error” was the cause of his faulty entry declaration – amid growing concerns over the world No.1’s movements around the time of his positive Covid result last December.
Djokovic took to Instagram on Wednesday as he waited for further clearance on his visa application – which was again delayed by a further 24 hours after further submissions from his legal team over a possible cancellation by Immigration Minister Alex Hawke.
But in doing so he made the significant admission that he had incorrectly ticked a box on his entry declaration saying he hadn’t travelled within 14 days of arriving in Australia – when in fact he had been in both Serbia and Spain.
“On the issue of travel declaration, this was submitted by my support team on my behalf – as I told immigration officials on my arrival – and my agent sincerely apologises for the administrative mistake in ticking the incorrect box about my previous travel before coming to Australia.

What is the definition of “travel”? I don’t think Serbia is in the EU but if it was, going from one city to another within the EU is arguably not “travel”. Does driving to New York from Connecticut constitute travel? Is flying from New York City to Buffalo travel?

Well, if you want to increase the chance it’ll happen, go ahead. Personally if I was somebody who loved freedom, I wouldn’t do that.
An incorrect box checked by error is not “admitting to a lie“. (Except maybe in a prison colony)
You wouldn’t joke about it? And now we see how authoritarian governments cow people down.! They like censorship, but their real goal is fear based self censorship.
It’s not fear. I wasn’t pointing out that while the person who made the comment thought they were joking, that they were just being sarcastic, it could have actually happened.
