A medical helicopter carrying a child patient crash landed outside Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon – but all four people on board are expected to survive in what one official called “an absolute miracle.”
The medevac chopper crashed around 1 p.m. near Drexel Hill United Methodist Church in Delaware County on its way to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia from Maryland, authorities said.
Authorities said the passengers — the pilot, a crew member, a nurse and an infant patient — were able to pull themselves out of the wreck.

Long time ago I was offered a job...doing Medical Heli and fixed wing.....
I declined....
an infant patient — were able to pull themselves out of the wreck.
That must have been something to see.
That is a miracle.
As I recall, helo’s are inherently unstable.
Glad they made it.
The definition of a miracle, for sure.
That is a miracle.>>> Even the tv folks said it was a miracle. Just kinda parked it right in front of the church. One guy had to back his car out of the way. And that is a busy street.
As neat as copters are, I always think of the description of “thousands of parts all trying to fly off in different directions”.

Pennsylvania Ping!

FReepmail me to be added to the list.
How I wished I believed in miracles. For others — yes. For me — no. Only miracle we need is impeachments of Biden and Harris. That would be miraculous enough.
“Must have been an auto rotate, landing”
Did you see the photos?
No I did not..TG..
It’s an EC145, developed from a Messerschmitt design.
Seriously.
Must have been an auto rotate, landing. Good for them....<<
Yup!...with a bit of altitude, its a wonderful feature of rotary wing aircraft vs. fixed wing....We practiced them often in Viet Nam ...Even new pilots can do them as it was part of the training....
I always think of the description of “thousands of parts all trying to fly off in different directions”. <<
lol yeah..that’s true! (see post 15)...that’s part of the reason auto-rotations are practiced...some times referred to as a “controlled crash”
The version I heard was “10,000 parts flying in close formation, looking for a chance to crash”.
I used to Crew Chief/fire the right window machine gun for CH-46s back in the day.
That’s a very populated area. Glad everyone landed safely.
