OKLAHOMA CITY — Two Oklahoma death row inmates facing executions in the coming months offered firing squad as a less problematic alternative to the state's three-drug lethal injection, one of their attorneys told a federal judge on Monday.
The two inmates — Donald Grant and Gilbert Postelle — want U.S. District Judge Stephen Friot to grant them a temporary injunction that would delay their upcoming executions until a trial can be held over whether Oklahoma's three-drug lethal injection method is constitutional. A trial is set to begin before Friot on Feb. 28, but Grant is scheduled to be put to death on Jan. 27, while Postelle is set for execution on Feb. 17.
“While it may be gruesome to look at, we all agree it will be quicker," attorney Jim Stronski told Friot after a day-long hearing in Oklahoma City..
Among the experts who testified was Dr. James Williams, an emergency medicine specialist from Texas who has more than 40,000 hours of emergency room experience and who has extensively studied the use of firing squads.
Williams, himself the victim of a gunshot wound to the chest area, testified that a firing squad involving shots from at least four high-powered rifles to the “cardiac bundle" of the heart would be so quick that an inmate wouldn't feel pain. He also said that unlike lethal injection, there is an extremely low likelihood that the execution would be botched.

“I still think the convicted should get some LSD and the
executioners should all come in wearing lifelike masks
of their victims, maybe poke them with pitchforks while
laughing hysterically.”
I would upvote this if that was an option here!
Nitrogen Asphyxiations.
Strap the condemned down.
fix a brain wave detector.
medical breathing mask attached to a nitrogen supply
flow 1.1 atmosphere 99% nitrogen.
Condemned goes to sleep
make sure the room is well ventilated
wait till brain waves have been flat for 5 min.
Declare dead.
No messy body parts or blood splatter.
No possible missed veins
No drug shortages
No burning at the stake choice?
Delay, delay, delay. And if that doesn't work, appeal, appeal, appeal.
These murders are lucky in how they can choose their way of death, unlike their victims.
As for me, I choose to keep my personal record of most consecutive days alive going for some time.
God already knows when my time is up and I will it up to him.
General LeGrande: Three will be suf-ee-cient!
I don’t understand why they can’t just inject a massive dose of morphine. Why does the lethal injection have to be so complicated?
Oh right. It was designed by committee. Never mind.
Any veterinarian can do the job without pain for $100.
Yep, I’ve always wondered though if everything went smooth or,if there were complications during surgeries that I was unaware of at the time. Not,that it mattered as I don’t remember a,thing. Imthink they actually give you stuff to make you forget, too. Had to,have a procedure once where I was awake, but they gave me something to ‘make me forget’ for whatever reason. at least what they told me, and I actually didn’t remember what happened (but, theyngave me seem dope too, to calm me down so,that I woild be relaxed enough to get the biopsie- it was a weird day.
One time woke from surgery, and it was like, being in a cartoon where everything was going in fast motion. They was weird too. I woild see a nurse across, the recovery room, then in no time flat she was standing g next to me asking questions- it was really weird. This went on for about 15 minutes or so- kinda freaked me out.
I suppose a religious exemption won’t prevent me fr getting shot?
Lol “sorry, my religion doesn’t allow killing... go find someone who, isn’t religious to execute” 😆
they caught 10,000 lbs at the border plenty to go around and give them 1 oz. no return.
This seems like a problem Pfizer could solve.
Why don’t the use nitrogen smothering? Fast, painless, and clean.
Are these guys Mormons? (reference to Gary Gilmore).
>>>You want one that can be ‘botched’ and ugly<<<
Like forgetting to sponge down the head prior to an electrocution? (The Green Mile)
LOL!!! Yeah . Talk about ‘’manning up’’. Gotta admire a guy who’ll take a 30.06 round over a drug combo.
Don’t make ‘em like that no more, no sir!
"This seems like a problem Pfizer could solve."
Wow. Sorry to hear that. It was about that long ago I had to put my Black Labrador down. I cried like a baby when he went.
Miss the old boy everyday.
Dude. THAT is creative.
