The upscale grocery chain Whole Foods claims the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) order to allow its employees to wear “Black Lives Matter” masks violates its constitutional rights.
In October 2020, the Amazon-owned Whole Foods stoked controversy when it announced a new dress code policy that banned its employees from wearing “busy patterns on clothing or face coverings, buttons or pins on employee aprons, ripped jeans, athleisure, and t-shirts with visible logos, slogans, messages, or flags of any kind,” according to Insider.
“When a lot of us started working at Whole Foods back in the day, it was a place where you could wholly be yourself and express your personality while still working your job,” one employee said at the time. “We’re worried that it’s leaning toward a more super-corporate, you’re-just-another-cog-in-the-machine kind of employee situation.”

10 employers normally have that right. This particular NLRB region apparently considers wearing a BLM button to be converted activity regarding working conditions, which is ridiculous.
They are learning welfare recipients and radical leftists are not Whole Foods Customers.
If I see “woke” - I immediately leave and never spend a penny there again.
Kind of pathetic, that statement....like wearing a “message t-shirt” says anything about your”self”, than just dressing like a normal person. Work is not about expressing yourself. It’s only about doing a job you were hired to do, and getting paid for it......by your employer.

So devil’s advocate here.... Free enterprise means free enterprise. I believe all independent corporations should have their own say in how they run their business. What you wear, what you do, what you say even if it can be traced you are an employee, that is all free market. Even if they want to demand the jab, that is their choice in a free market. The idea is either the labor market will tolerate these corporate demands or they are forced into a situation where they must revise policies or be short handed.
That being said, any employee screaming about being fired for their MAGA hat should be rallying against anyone being fired for a BLM hat.
The hypocrisy on both sides blows my mind. You either agree with free enterprise or believe free speech reaches beyond the purview of government and private employers should also be subject to such. This should never be conditioned upon the political view expressed.
Let me be VERY clear this is not a statement on any government mandates, OSHA standards, or any influence outside the natural market. Again, this is about a dual hypocrisy which is what kills both sides credibility.

Oh, please. That was almost certainly never true. If “wholly being yourself” meant showing up at work drunk or having a Hitler tattoo or smoking hash at the checkout stand, I’m guessing that even the wonderful “old” Whole Foods drew some lines...
