A Rhode Island hospital is dealing with a Covid-19 outbreak with patients after it asked staff who had tested positive, but were asymptomatic, to come in due to a staffing shortage.
Eleanor Slater Hospital, a state-run facility with campuses in Cranston and Burrillville, reported it had 28 infected patients as of Thursday, according to the Boston Globe. The hospital has roughly 200 patients.
On Saturday, the hospital had two Covid-positive staff members come into work and three on Monday, according to a memo posted on the official Rhode Island state website.
"The decision to utilize covid-positive staff who are asymptomatic is consistent with CDC guidance that allows hospitals facing significant staffing challenges to utilize asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic workers," the memo reads.
The infected staff worked with Covid-positive patients, with one exception, according to the state’s Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals.

They got religion! The leftists are so crazy.
Like everything else the leftists touch, the medical profession has been destroyed. It will take years to regain the trust of the People, if ever.
How could they have possibly known that people who have COVID are more contagious than people who don’t have COVID?
but the vaccine mandate is being enforced that is the most important thing
They have “zero” staff that are not vaccinated, so they had to have fired unvaxxed staffers.
The idiots thought vaccinated, COVID-positive workers were not able to spread COVID.
That is a liberal hospital for you. All stupid, all the time.
So say we all!
I found out over the years that the medical industry is not that shining house on the hill I thought it was.
As was murdering patients by rigidly following the CDC protocols and refusing alternative treatments for CoVid patients - like HCQ and Ivermectin, when the patients were early in the infection phase, but instead waiting until it was too late and getting them on Remdesivir and eventually the respirators (and when the patients' kidneys shutdown due to the Remdesivir, their lungs would fill up with fluid, and the respirators would blow out their lungs). Yay CDC guidance.
Hope the hospital gets sued for negligence. The thing is though that the hospital did this to implement Joe Biden’s tone.
Our “leaders” are utter fools.
Leftists want everyone dead. Once everyone realizes this fact, all decisions by leftists make sense.
all asymptomatic workers were masked. Besides one worker the asymptomatics were working with covid patients. (from the memo: “Asymptomatic staff who worked Saturday and Monday worked only in the areas with COVID-positive patients,”)\
“In the one instance, an asymptomatic staff member did work with patients who did not have COVID, but there have been no COVID positive cases reported in the area where this work took place,”...Edgar said the outbreak at the hospital is not connected to the asymptomatic staff members.”
SCIENCE!!!!!
Eleanor Slater Hospital is operated by the State of Rhode Island’s Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, & Hospitals. The hospital treats patients with acute and long-term medical illnesses, as well as patients with mental health conditions.(emphasis added)
This is utterly reprehensible. I bet they thought "who cares? It's only the crazy people that'll get sick and die."
...and then they came for the "crazy"...
This pandemic has truly revealed the darkness of statists' souls.
The fire department that I retired from currently has more people off sick than in any time in its history. Nearly all of them are vaccinated people with Omicron. They were just about to fire all of the unvaccinated people because of an order from our governor. Instead, all the unvaccinated people who are not sick are working mandatory overtime to cover for the sick vaccinated people. But don’t worry as soon as the Omicron crisis passes, they are still planning on firing the unvaccinated people.
I hate to be a spoil sport on this. You make a good point except for one thing. These staff people are most likely positive with Omicron. Omicron is a cold, and not an especially bad one. The only people dying with it, are sick with something else that actually is serious. CDC's policy is an obvious admission of this.
My best medical experience, bar none, was Nurse Carol who took care of me for two weeks when I was in the hospital’s isolation ward recovering from Hep A. My opinion of the medical profession shot WAY up
yeah I thought this was a s5tupid idea the first time i read about it ...
Believable though cause its the mandators...
