The January 6th anniversary observances by the Democrat-media class from Joe Biden down are sick-making even by the debased standards of American politics. I'm disinclined to join them. In the last twelve months, I've done multiple monologues on TV and radio about America's political prisoners, the weaponization of Officer Sicknick's death and the now routine FBI humbuggery about key evidence such as - ooooooh! - a Lego model of the Capitol on which the insurrectionists had plotted the whole thing. Which inevitably, like almost every FBI utterance these days, proved to be total bollocks.

So instead I will merely reprise what I said in the immediate hours after the "insurrection". If you want the short version, here's the Washington Times headline:

There has been much talk these last two months about the disconnect between Fox and its audience over the events of November 3rd, but they are as nothing to the disconnect between Fox and its audience over the events of January 6th. The media may be sentimental about the Capitol, but in my unscientific survey of my North Country neighbors the people aren't. Congress has an approval rating that falls somewhere between Isis and child pornographers. Pundits and politicians can wax mawkish about "the people's house" but you'd be hard-pressed to find one in a thousand citizens who's ever used those words in a non-contemptuous sense - and most of the other 999 would assume that the phrase referred to some long-term care facility Andrew Cuomo moves the old folks into for his Covid express checkout.

The 1/6 incident has far more in common with the students taking over the administration building that it does a coup d’etat. They forget about the Senate bombing by radical leftists in 1983, or the 1954 United States Capitol shooting by Puerto Rican nationalists, who injured 5 legislators and who Carter friggin pardoned. Then of course we have the Congressional baseball shooting by a Sanders fanatic in 2017. The only thing that bothered Democrats about that is that he was a bad shot. I want to know about the cops that let the protesters in and about this Ray Epps guy. I want the facts and not a friggin show trial circus.
