The state of New Jersey has agreed to pay a nearly $53 million settlement to the families of 119 residents of the state’s military veteran facilities who died during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to reports.

Each of the families will receive an average of $445,000 ---SNIP---

The striking number of deaths prompted a federal civil rights investigation by the Department of Justice, which wrote in a letter to New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy in Oct. 2020 that there was “cause for concern that the quality of medical care at these nursing homes has been deficient.” That investigation is ongoing

A major scandal that should warrant major a public investigation but the state paid off the plaintives the story went into the memory hole.
The article does a poor job of explaining the negligent behavior simply suggesting it was because of failure to wear masks BUT the article below mentions that the Murphy administration banned mask wearing. No political leaders suffered any consequences. Only the tax payers and families of vets suffered.

New Jersey veterans’ homes barred masks at start of COVID-19 crisis

$445K each?

Didn’t the ‘9/11 Widows’ get $1M each, when it was basically no one’s fault their husbands were in one of the Twin Towers that morning?

But border violators who are temporarily separated from their brood during processing are to be awarded $5,000 more, right?

Regards,

Good catch. In our upside down world the feelings of border law breakers are worth more than the lives of veterans.

Phil Murphy clearly committed mass murder and should face the appropriate penalties.

Arrests. Where are the arrests of those that made idiotic decisions. There are at least 5 governors/former governors that should be facing jail time, mass murder charges and death penalty sentences for what they did....but no, nada, nothing, but payoffs to families to keep em quiet.

No political leaders suffered any consequences.....

And none will. That’s why they do what they do.

Does anyone remember Corzine. Outright stole millions from folks. Nothing but a petty fine......Slap on the wrist: Jon Corzine, former Democratic governor and Senator for New Jersey, has been fined $5 million for his part in misusing and losing $1 billion of privately owned customer funds and eventually causing the bankruptcy of MF Global.

The federal corruption trial of Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey ended in a mistrial on Thursday after jurors said they were unable to reach a verdict, leaving Mr. Menendez, a Democrat, free to return to Congress but injecting uncertainty as he faces re-election next year and his party faces a difficult battle to retake the Senate.

Many more to list I’m sure.

I can only imagine what the former NJ Senate Leader was all about. Just looking at that guy and his bling, darned sure he was all about getting envelopes full of cash and late night meetings.

Has to make you wonder, if politicians and teachers/educators were required to wear body cameras, like the cops do, and every meeting/class/conference were recorded, and not doing so would mean immediate termination/suspension, how much of this nonsense would go on.
