A severe winter storm could dump up to 18 inches of snow across the eastern US Monday as some half a million homes are already without power in the southeast — but New York will largely be spared, forecasters said Monday.
The heaviest snowfall — likely between 6 and 10 inches — is expected in parts of northern Virginia and Maryland, as well as in Delaware and southern New Jersey, AccuWeather meteorologist Nicole LoBiondo told The Post.

The radio stations were repeating the winter weather advisory in NY.
Phone alerts, the whole 9.
And if you give morons on I-84 an excuse, they will immediately slam the brakes and begin driving like it is a nor’easter on top of them.
Which several morons did today on my way in to work because obviously with dry pavement and no precipitation that means it is slippery!
I so hate NY.

Here in SE Texas we dropped 50 degrees in 24 hours. Went from the 80’s to the 30’s in a hurry.
Got the gas logs going.

Overheard my wife and girlfriend saying the same thing!

BFD. "Last week, snow storms over the Sierra Nevada and the foothills knocked out power to thousands. As of Friday, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. said 50,000 customers were without power due to the severe winter storm. Many of those residents in remote, high-elevation areas may have to wait several more days before power is restored. Several feet of snow caused temporary closures of Interstate 80 and Highway 50 for several days, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in several counties — including Sacramento County — that were impacted by the storms. "
