Schumer Wants Vote to Change Filibuster Rule by MLK Day (Jan. 17th)
Axios ^ | January 3rd, 2022 | Alayna Treene

Senate Democrats will use Thursday's anniversary of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol to propel their efforts to pass sweeping voting rights legislation.

Driving the news: In a letter to colleagues Monday morning, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said the Senate will debate and vote on changing Senate rules if Republicans block a vote on the Freedom to Vote Act backed by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.). Schumer promised a vote on Senate reforms by Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 17.

As a side note to this thread, please consider the following.

Post-17th Amendment ratification Schumer needs to start leading the Senate to respect the federal government's constitutionally limited powers.

The ultimate remedy for unconstitutionally big, alleged election-stealing, Democratic Party-pirated federal and state governments manufacturing crises to oppress everybody under their boots...

Consider that the states effectively have "veto power" over continued unpopular, unconstitutional actions of the feds.

More specifically, all the states can effectively “secede” from the unconstitutionally big federal government by doing the following.

Patriots need to primary federal and state elected officials who don't send voters email ASAP that clearly promises to do the following.

Federal and state lawmakers need to promise in their emails to introduce resolutions no later than 100 days after start of new legislative sessions that proposes an amendment to the Constitution to the states, the amendment limited to repealing the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments (16&17A), little or no discussion required imo.

In fact, I challenge the states to ram the repeal amendment for 16&17A through the ratification process faster than Nancy Pelosi irresponsibly rammed unconstitutional Obamacare through the House. /semi-sarc

Insights welcome.

More “sweeping.” Any time the press uses “sweeping” or “quietly” get ready to take it up the backside.

The Dems get rid of the rule, pass any damn thing they want, lose the Senate, and it becomes just that much easier to unpass it. This is the Harry Reid Rule Of Unintended Consequences.

The FBI consistently (and illegally) spied on MLK.

The Senate is by it's nature a conservative institution.

You’d think that Schumer would learn from Harry Reid’s mistake.

Unless he’s go a plan to keep the Senate past 2022 before this session ends, he must know he’s likely to be on the losing end of not stopping a filibuster real soon now.

Schumer wants the dems to dominate the country. In November the rules will be disregarded and the dems will do everything to rig the election just like 2020.

I’d have no problem eliminating the income tax and popular election of Senators... I doubt that’s going to happen though... it would be seen as retrograde even by conservatives.

The Senators should represent their State governments... that was the original design and I think that design was brilliant. The Federal government should be content to fund themselves with tariffs and license fees... also well thought out excises. On the practical side, none of that is going to happen.

The Democrats addiction to drop box ballots will be the end of them. America wants voter ID. Most folks see this for what it is.

Freedom to Cheat Act.

Yes getting this passed is the only way they avoid loosing all power in November and if you think they are going to let that happen I have a bridge to sell you.

Federalize elections, stripping states of their sovereignty to accomplish Dem goals.
