A parent in Arlington, Virginia, slammed the teachers’ union in the state by editing an error-ridden letter that demanded officials delay reopening schools and posted the corrected version on social media.
“Hey @VEA4Kids, are you going to send out more of these grammar worksheets over break?” the parent wrote on Twitter. “My kids and I had a great time spotting errors! Did we find them all?”
The parent rewrote the lead sentence, which includes strange descriptions and the incorrect style for the planned return to school date:
“On behalf of the members of the Arlington Education Association, this dire expression lends great concerns for Arlington Public Schools return plans for January 3rd, 2022.”
Addressed to Arlington Schools Superintendent Dr. Francisco Duran, the letter cites the rise in omicron coronavirus cases and demands a delay in starting in-classroom learning.
The Arlington parent shredded the teachers’ union letter with approximately 20 sloppy errors. Twitter/@ellenfgallery
The parent, who obviously has some expertise in writing and editing, found more than 20 blunders in the five-paragraph letter.
Aside from rewriting some poorly written sentences, the parent points out the misuse of some words — “are” instead of “our,” for example.

I went to grade school through junior high in Arlington Va in the 50s and 60s. Back then the demographics were still the postwar America that boomers took for granted and Arlington was pretty conservative compared to the rest of DC. A lot of us were military brats.
I don’t remember many poor teachers. Maybe one in 2nd grade. This was a very academically rigorous area. They really pushed us considering this was public school. Maybe more so when you tested high. I remember some sort of connection between a teachers college in Slippery Rock Pennsylvania and this school district.
Anyway I know that that Arlington is just a distant memory. It was hit by a similar demographic tsunami that changed Southern California forever. Toss in the open war of the progressive Left against the vestiges of the white American culture that once existed and I suppose none of this should be a surprise.

They not only don’t want to teach, they aren’t able to teach. They lack the ability to understand the subject matter well enough to pass an exam themselves.

I’ve worked for people like this. They want for you to clean up the letter but if you clean it up too much - YOU’RE FIRED.
A former friend worked in copying/printing and said one, uh, customer brought in a thing she wanted printed up to include in a book. There were extreme - to the point of laughable - grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors that she insisted not be changed in any way, even when a really nice person who worked there (not my friend) tried to explain that the bad presentation would make the person being memorialized look a bit silly.
I don’t want to get into my own experiences because I’m just trying to have a nice, stress-free day.

I don’t remember many poor teachers.
They were a treasure.
1) I remember 5th grade geography. We outlined information about every country in the world. The point was to teach us to organize information.
2) I visited a grade school teacher once. She kept interrupting me. Suzy, please move that book over there. Johnny, please move that book over there and it conintued until that book went around the room twice. I asked, What are you doing? “Teaching them to follow instructions,” she said.
3) Everytime I handed in my work to Mrs. Thayer she asked, “Did you check your work?” I would say no and go back and check it and find errors. I got so damned tired of her asking I started to check before I handed it in. Still a valuable skill.

I read the previous thread featuring that photo further down in the thread but the language, grammar, and structure of the letter made it unnecessary, then and now. The source was plain to anybody who has endured such incompetence in any setting.Yes, the author of the letter is obviously spelling some words as she would pronounce them, e.g., "increase" instead of "increased."
Never understood why that certain ethnic group has difficulty pronouncing the final consonant in many words: col' instead of cold, for example, or apartmen' instead of apartment.

The National Educators United group, the epicenter of the indoctrination machine, wants to lock-out school students again because they are worried about Omicron. [Tweet Link] The “teachers” are organizing their Marxist tribe to send protest petitions to various education officials in an effort to avoid returning to school after the holiday break [petition link here]
It’s a tough call on which institutions have lost the most credibility over the past 18 months between the medical institutions, the education institutions or the institutions of the justice system (courts, FBI and DOJ).
To the ordinary American citizen and family, the scale of the ideological corruption amid a multitude of institutions is perhaps the biggest revelation of the past year.

My first thought was from an ad from the past. The ad went something like this: “Johnny can’t read”. I wanted to take it further and say “Now Johnny is the teacher”.

Ingrid Gant is a victim of affirmative action. The president of the leftist Arlington (VA) Educational Association (AEA) has only a BA from a bible college in a group top heavy with lawyers, MBAs and PhDs.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
One of the more amusing reasons to homeschool, but terrifying when you think about the fact that these people are supposed to be actually educating children.
