The battle that Israel is currently engaged in against Iran has been referred to as “the war between wars.”
This is a misnomer. Israel is currently engaged in a war against Iran and has been for several years. This war is mainly fought in Syria, sometimes in Gaza or Lebanon, and sometimes even inside Iran. On the other side, Iran prefers to fight against Israel indirectly through their numerous proxies. They prefer that Lebanese or Palestinians die rather than Iranians.
Wars sometime are fought openly on the battlefield, military force against military force. But often they are fought with local and regional battles, or even covert operations. The current Iran-Israel war is conducted by the latter scenario.
Let’s not kid ourselves, this is a war against Iran’s ultimate goals: to gain regional hegemony, under the threat of a nuclear umbrella, and strike out for global Islamic domination. And, the use of a nuclear device to eradicate Israel as a force persuader against the West.

From an Israeli perspective, the aims of the war are clear. To prevent Iran from obtaining their twofold goal.
Anyone who thinks that Iran will stop at the nuclear threshold, the breakout point before possessing the bomb, is delusional. No nation would go to the measures undertaken by Iran to simply stop at the brink. One doesn’t build massive underground facilities with the most sophisticated and upgraded centrifuges, protected by powerful surface to air missile systems for a civilian project.
They may try to persuade others that they have no intention of going the final mile, but Israel stands alone in not being deceived.

Think where we would be if China had been denied the bomb in the 1960’s.
The problem is that nuclear technology is almost impossible to stop from spreading.
The technology to build a bomb is out there and known to anyone who wants to study it.
The Chinese, Iranians, Pakistanis, etc...all have technically smart people and given enough time and money can build a bomb. Even North Korea has built a bomb so anyone can do it.
The USA built their bomb in the 1940s before anyone else and invented the technology.
Plus, you have the major powers who are happy to provide the technology for the right price..
The end result is that anyone with enough money can build a bomb and deploy it, the only question is will they use the bomb.
Thank you Jimmy Carter.
Don't get hung up with the initial discussion of the Tsara Bomb. At about 1:00 the REAL bomb starts getting discussed.
I agree with the author but this may be the most bombastic title I have ever read.
The current state of world affairs regarding Iran only shows us that the West has learned nothing from WWII.
Israel warned us about Iraq up to 1981 - the Israelis destroyed Saddam Hussein’s attainment of nuclear weapons...that would pay off for the West in the 1991 Gulf War.
Israel warned us about a Syrian nuclear facility up to 2007 - the Israelis destroyed Syria’s attainment of nuclear weapons...that would pay off for the West during the Syrian civil war.
Israel warned us about the nuclear ambitions of Iran way back in 1988! Now we are approaching zero hour with Iran. Why do the Israelis always have to do the world’s dirty work?
The agenda 21 goal is closer to 6 Billion of us...
As long as The Big Guy gets his 10%, it's all good...
The jabs will do the job that Jew-haters from present day all the way back into the mists of time will be jealous of.
The Knesset hasn’t been sponsoring a 50 year war on boy-children in their public schools like we have in America. Israel conscripts all but about 25% of its citizens into military service for 2 years or so. The other 25% receive deferments for criminal, mental health issues or religious reasons.
There’s 2 reasons right there, I’m sure there’s more. Our school system has perfected the making of self-loathing students into an ugly art form. I’m surprised we have any real men under the age of 50. If it wasn’t for the flyover country and patriots willing to live behind enemy lines in blue city state hellholes all the males we would see would be pajama-clad soi-boys.
“Do another six million Jews have to die before the benign West awakens from its torpor?”
Would anyone even pay attention?*
(*See the new Netflix movie “Don’t Look Up”.)
That was my entire point, the technology is out there for anyone to use, any nation with the desire to build a bomb can and there is very little we can do about it.
We now have guns. And F-16’s.
Please explain what lesson the "West" should have "learned from WWII" that it did not.
I have posted about this before, but the headline is a perfect opener to do so again.
Israel's strategic situation, in the medium to long term, is terrible. They are living in a sea of implacable hostility, made up of individuals who are less capable than Israelis, but, as Stalin said, "quantity has a quality all its own".
That Israel will eventually be overrun, or in the case of Iran be destroyed by nuclear weapons, seems inevitable.
But what the writer calls "the West" is not, and probably never has been, the guarantor of Israel's safety. Israel (the state) and Israelis may be making a catastrophic strategic error to believe that the armed forces of the US and the EU(ha!) stand in reserve to turn the tide of battle once things go south.
This is not the case. I don't know about the EU(ha!) military, but the misuse of the US military in interfering in the internal affairs and social organization of Middle Eastern states is over, perhaps for a century.
Israel can choose to continue fighting it out in its very unfavorable location, but I do not see how that will end well.
And as far as "another six million Jews" dying because of something "the West" does or does not do, you must know that the war with Germany was fought by Britain for her own imperial reasons, and by the US because Germany declared war on us, and by France not at all, and in all three cases, the causes of the war and the war aims had nothing to do with Jews, even to the point of turning away ships loaded with Jewish refugees.
I do not know what I would do if I were in charge of Israeli foreign and defense policy. They have played a bad hand very well. But the future is dark, and it's not a principal issue for "the West", where we have our own problems to deal with.
>>Why do the Israelis always have to do the world’s dirty work?<<
Probably because the center of the world’s focus was, is and will be Israel and specifically Jerusalem.
If Iran gets three nukes, they’ll destroy Israel.
That goes without saying.
Israel has every right to protect themselves from being destroyed by any means necessary.
