More than 2.4 million COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the US in the past week – the most since the pandemic began, according to new data.
The new statistic beats out the previous record of just over the 2 million cases recorded almost exactly a year ago for the seven days between Dec. 26, 2020, through Jan. 1, 2021 — and comes amid the fast-paced spread of the highly-contagious Omicron variant, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

CONGRATULATIONS! USA, USA, USA!
Now this is truly the American Spirit! See what can be done when we all work together as a team!
I wonder if one gets covid should they get a test just to show they then have natural immunity?
Precisely. But then again, we wouldn’t have mail in voting & unprecedented loss of freedom anytime they need it to control us. They didn’t want immunity, they wanted obedience. And we obeyed. And we will again.
I wonder if the Omicron variant was created in a lab and released worldwide as an “airborne vaccine”?
On track for another new record next week...
We’re number one, We’re number one!
Didn’t Biden say he “had a plan” for dealing with COVID, and didn’t he criticize PDJT for “not having a plan” ?
It was a lot more than that. I know half a dozen who have tested positive at home. Never reported it. Me included.
These numbers have been BS all along.
That’s my theory as well. This is how pandemics end naturally. Has been since the beginning of time.
Herd immunity on the horizon.
The same thing - a record number of new cases - is happening in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, Denmark, Argentina, and other countries. Countries like Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands peaked a few weeks ago. But worldwide deaths are remaining flat, even down a little. This could be good news.
Apparently the number and location of those mutations in the virus is unprecedented and therefore Omicron is thought to be very unlikely to happen randomly by chance.
( 825,394 official Covid deaths as of New Year's Eve 2021 / 2 years ) = an average of 412,697 per year, roughly figuring....
( 412,697 average but official Covid deaths in the US per year / 331,002,651 population of the US ) x 100 = 0.125 % per year
Roughly figured PER YEAR from official sources, this pandemic in the US comes to about 0.125 % of the population per year.
If America only would have taken Fauci’s 6th Euthanasia Booster…
damn, looks like everybody will have it by tuesday next year...
Where’s all the bodies? The people on breathing tubes? The hospitals with beds in the hallways? The grandmothers catching it from college kids who frolicked without masks?
Darn. We’ll all have to print out our own ballets and vote by mail in November.
This is great news. It is much less deadly now (and it was not that deadly before for most young/healthy people).
“I know half a dozen who have tested positive at home. Never reported it.”
CDC estimates that only about one out of four infections is officially reported.
They have multiple programs to estimate the total disease burden through direct sampling. They monitor sewage and measure the viral load. They contract with big testing labs (like LabCorp) to randomly sample blood that has been drawn for other routine medical tests. They conduct a variety of other seroprevalence surveys (testing of blood samples) with different partners, such as States, Localities and Private institutions like hospitals, HMOs and Universities.
It is quite possible that the one in four ratio might not apply to Omicron though. If it is much milder, and/or many more people are asymptomatic, even a lower percentage of actual infections might get officially counted.
It will probably be over before we find out, it is such a fast mover. Wham, Bam, Thank you Ma’am.
