As Chicago ends its deadliest year in more than a quarter century, Police Supt. David Brown on Thursday promised more detectives to solve murders and more officers on the street to engage in “positive interactions” in neighborhoods.
“We all know this has been a challenging year here in the city of Chicago,” Brown said at a news conference to discuss his goals for the new year. “Too many families are reeling from the loss of loves ones due to senseless gun violence.
“Too many residents are dealing with the ripple effects of this trauma due to crime in our community,” he added.
There have been nearly 820 homicides in Chicago this year, according to data from the Cook County medical examiner’s office. That’s the most since 828 homicides were recorded in all of 1995. The total for 1994 was 931.

Who cares? If they want to live like animals. Let them. When they are ready, they will change.

Bring in the social workers.
They’ll know what to do.
Face it. Democratic run urban areas have devolved beyond redemption. No decent, rational person would voluntarily live, work, raise a family or send their children to school in such places.
If they would defund the police and decriminalize almost every felony on the books ..this would never happen.
Too much money at stake - from gang members to politicians, they have a vested interest in the status quo.

if you’re not even allowed to accurately NAME the obvious problem, then you have no chance whatsoever of SOLVING the problem ... so, no one should look forward to anything at all changing for the better in the Windy City ...
Unfortunately, they do that, don’t they? When the criminal justice system won’t do what it is supposed to do, it is bad. I wish I had the answer for you but I don’t. Good Luck is all I can tell you.
