Russia's Vladimir Putin has warned his US counterpart Joe Biden that imposing new sanctions over Ukraine could lead to a complete breakdown in relations.
In a phone call late on Thursday, the Russian president said such sanctions would be a "colossal mistake".
Mr Biden, meanwhile, told Mr Putin that the US and its allies would respond decisively to any invasion of Ukraine....
....The build-up has prompted concern in the West, with the US threatening Mr Putin with sanctions "like none he's ever seen" if Ukraine comes under attack....
...Although the two sides exchanged warnings during the call, Russian foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov told reporters shortly after that Mr Putin was "pleased" with the conversation. He added that it had created a "good backdrop" for future talks.

As to the BS "coup" accusation, Ukrainian President Yanukovitch was elected promising to join the EU. As soon as he was elected he announced Ukraine was going to join the Russian CIS. He also passed "dictatorship laws"(trying to set himself up as a dictator) and had 400 protesters brutally beaten. Almost a million people came out to protest in Ukraine's capitol of Kyiv. After the protests became violent with 100 protesters shot and killed by the police, Pres. Yanukovitch fled the country with billions. The Ukrainian parliament which stayed in office, voted him out. Free elections occurred soon after. This action was a "coup" according to Putin and not the will of the people. Ukrainians want to join the EU not some Russian dominated Asian trading bloc.
It isn’t “us” warmongering this time. Russia has absolutely no business threatening Ukraine, which is no threat to Russia at all.
And it isn’t any of Russia’s business what the sovereign nations of eastern Europe do or don’t do. They don’t control them anymore.
China has now displaced the US as the largest investor and trading nation with most of Central and South America. We can’t do anything about that either.
Russia is an aggressive bully with it’s neighboring nations and always has been. Up to and including outright invasion and TAKING their territories. That’s how it got so much territory.

Or maybe your delusions blinded you to the fact that Trump was the only President to actually tackle the big problems with Russia: (1) our nuclear imbalance, (2) shaping up NATO which was in such a decrepit state the Germans were attending NATO exercises with broomsticks, (3) pulling out of the INF due to constant Russian cheating, (4) modernizing and building the military, even calling for our nuclear weapons to be modernized and revamped, (5) building new defense pacts with the Poles, including sending more troops there, explicitly to "fight Russian aggression," (6) and fighting the European project to surrender Europe to Russia by permitting Russia's weaponized pipelines and energy policies.
