MILL SHOALS, Ill.—Authorities in two states are searching for a gunman who killed an eastern Illinois deputy early Wednesday and is suspected in a carjacking in neighboring Missouri a couple of hours later.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that Deputy Sean Riley responded to a motorist assist call on Interstate 64 near Mill Shoals around 5 a.m. Wednesday. A second officer who arrived at the scene found Riley dead. The deputy’s squad car was later found abandoned on I-64.

It wasn’t Eric Clapton. He only shot the sheriff.
The bright side in these type of scenarios is that many of the cops searching will find any excuse to end this ferals time on earth.
Illinois state Demonicrats, demonstrating they have no redeeming social value, abolished capital punishment in 2011.
Prayers up for Deputy Sean Riley and those who loved him.
Suspect in custody.
Even though the same person is suspected of murdering the deputy, robbing a minimart (video and eye witnesses), and putting a car-jacking victim (eye witness) in the hospital, the article presents NO DESCRIPTION. How is that conscionable?
Kind thoughts for the family of the Deputy.
I drive by that QT every morning. Here is the perp.
Face tattoos. Never a good look.
An Oxycodone head that can’t get pills.
Ditto. Also praying for the safety of all LEO's today. They need our prayers! Here in HELLINOIS we've had so many LEO's quit the past 18 months that those left are working 7 days a week, having vacations cancelled and working 10+ hour days for weeks at a time.
All I can offer up are my sincere prayers and advice to those of us in this hell-hole of a state: if you get pulled over, BE KIND. That by itself gets you a long way with our LEO's.
This character’s crime spree goes at least back to Dec. 17.

Looks like a guy you’d run in to at the feed store.
My oldest son did his LEO internship in that part of the state. Meth is the biggest problem there. Not saying it wasn't Oxycodone (or some other drug related) just saying Meth is the biggest problem in the southern & rural parts of the state based on oldest son's experience.

“...abolished capital punishment in 2011.”
Actually, it was done by George Ryan, the “republican” governor at the time. Illinois “republicans” form the other half of the organized crime group known as the “combine”, shared with Chicago democrats. Ryan himself went to prison on another matter in 2007. A political scumbag.
Time for a new song: Someone Shot The Deputy, But They Didn’t Shoot The Sheriff.
I guess with all of the crazy happening, someone decided to say, “Fvck it,” and do what they wanted. There’s no excuse, but people have a breaking point. After that, they turn reality into GTA V.
... Or it was drugs. Possibly drugs.
Grandpa was an officer in Chicago from 1960 - 1984. If he was alive today, he wouldn’t believe what the world turned into.
Thanks for sending. The perp looks like a fine alumnus of the prison system (based on the faded facial tats). Horrible for the deputy to be murdered because the judicial system is a failure.
