The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s newly updated COVID-19 guidelines don’t require a negative test to end isolation because PCR tests may return positive results for up to 12 weeks, Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said Wednesday.

Isolation from 10 to 5 days.
The testing is suspect.
Biden now saying there’s no federal solution. It’s a state issue.
Makes you wonder if the politics of this is getting too toxic for Democrats and now they’re trying to unwind this and significantly reduce the profile of Covid.

The CDC officially tells us the tests are designed to show uninfected people, 12 weeks after a possible 15 minute encounter with someone who may have had COVID, as positive for having COVID, the whole time.
You can’t have a worse false-positive rate than 100%.
When will the focus on treatments commence? At the current rate that will occur when a majority of the population has acquired natural immunity.
Thus, the CDC's latest is sound guidance.
The REAL issue, is that they sat on this because (presumably) it helped with the narrative...that shots are good and the unvaxxed (who seemed to be the ones getting Delta) are a scourge on society.
If a massive proportion of the nation gets Omicron - including the ones who got shots since breakthroughs are rising - then maintaining the narrative of continued testing AND 14 days of isolation will lead to a de facto shutdown. In addition, people who got their two shots will get peeved..."you mean I got these shots so I could get back to normal and not only do I get the virus anyway but now I have to isolate AND test?"
In short, the new CDC guidance is a hedge against alienating the people who took the shots.
As I've said, it IS science....political science.

Umm, didn’t the CDC just announce a general disuse by EOY for the PCR?
And, much earlier it came out that the PCR had already been discontinued by CDC once it came out that it includes no bits of any WuhanFlu virus — call it what you may. Instead, it was from the beginning tested against only bits of influenza virii since nobody, NOBODY, had bothered to actually isolate any bits of the WuhanFlu so that valid testing could proceed.
Just one PCR test, not a general discontinuation.
