Nikole Hannah-Jones: "Professional Educators," Not Parents, Are Experts In What Children Should Be Taught
Real Clear Politics ^ | December 26, 2021 | Ian Schwartz

Posted on 12/27/2021 5:07:14 AM PST by artichokegrower

NYT's 1619 Project founder Nikole Hannah-Jones talked about the appropriate role race should play in the public school curriculum in an interview with Chuck Todd on Sunday's 'Meet the Press' on NBC.

Hannah-Jones told Todd that Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe was right when he said parents should not decide what is taught in school. She said the entire reason that parents send their children to school is because they want kids "to be taught by people who have an expertise."

Well, fortunately, parents can vote with their feet.

Educators have been exposed and they are in full on panic mode.

***Then let us choose the school. Vouchers keeps enough of their artifice to allow the market to choose who has the right ‘expertise’ and who doesn’t.

Is that why American high school students are about one of the worst in academics on the planet?

Some teachers are excellent.
If you are a teacher, I am not insulting you — because I bet you are excellent.
If your wife, or child is a teacher, I am not insulting them — because I bet they are excellent.

But most teachers are not excellent. This is known. It’s been known for a long time. “Those who can’t do, teach.” That’s a longstanding part of our cultural wisdom.

Anyone who puts “educators” on any sort of pedestal is a fool.

“Professional Educators” are just about the lowest IQs in any group.

Did it occur to her that parents have to go to work, earn a living, look after their children, pay the mortgage etc etc?

Indeed so.

After all, dem ‘eddikashun’ degrees require the utmost in intelligence and dedication. Some students take as long as a couple of months to get their doctorate.

(No insult meant to the many dedicated real teachers out there.)

Tyrants usually don’t understand “democracy or self-rule, or that govt is by consent of the governed.”
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. To tyrants, there is only “their” way.

TALKING POINTS

Self-serving educators....coached by Obumma, Bidung, Clinton.....routinely undermine American families’ safety and security.

Security Issues start w/ labeling parents as domestic terrorists and include:

<><>(a) any situation, threat, vulnerability, act or omission posing a risk of giving rise to imperiling the citizenry,
<><>(b) any breach of representations or covenants and/or official activities regarding safeguarding security,
<><>(c) political measures officially given to the FBI and seventeen US Intel agencies.

1619 creator, fiction writer NIKOLE HANNAH-JONES:
I’m quite concerned about what’s happening; the efforts to ban the teaching of this history
<><> it is banned by name in Georgia, Florida, in Texas.
<><>There are efforts to ban it in Oklahoma, in South Dakota, in Tennessee,
<><>they are paving the way for the taking of other political rights,
<><>voting rights, women’s reproductive rights, rights for LGBTQ people are also in danger.

So we’re going to have to decide what kind of country we want to be. And when we think about what type of society bans books or bans ideas, that is not a free and tolerant democratic society.

That is a society that is veering towards authoritarianism. So unless people who believe in free speech, who believe in our children being intellectually challenged, begin to get organized and speak up, I think we’re going into a dark age of repression and suppression of the truth.

When I see someone use the term “Professional Educators” it sets off alarm bells for me.

That description is filled with meaning due to the types of people who routinely mouth it and what they stand for, and none of it is good.

It always grinded me that public school teachers were treated like saints. I taught school way back in 70s. Behind the scene, teachers expressed contempt for parents, kids and each other. They were petty, jealous and full of grievances especially complaining about low pay. The teachers I worked with were hardly the brightest bulbs in the room. I can only imagine how much worse it is today with communists fully infiltrating public schools.

Much like body cams for cops, there should be a camera in every classroom so that parents can monitor what is being taught and how teachers behave.

Yes. See my post above.

This is no slur on Teachers, of whom there are many good ones out there.

But the people who use the term “Professional Educators” are more interested in indoctrination.

They are the equivalent of political commissars in the Soviet Union.

...parents send their children to school is because they want kids "to be taught by people who have an expertise."

Serious disconnect here. or - more likely - a lib using misdirection.
What concerns parents isn't who teaches the kids (well, it is to an extent), but what is taught.

I hate Leftists...

Correct. Just as there are bad cops, bad plumbers, bad nurses, bad pilots, bad electricians, bad clergy, and bad doctors, there are bad teachers.

Any confused Catholics may find this helpful:

From the catechism-

2223 Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children. They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and disinterested service are the rule. The home is well suited for education in the virtues. This requires an apprenticeship in self-denial, sound judgment, and self-mastery - the preconditions of all true freedom. Parents should teach their children to subordinate the “material and instinctual dimensions to interior and spiritual ones.” Parents have a grave responsibility to give good example to their children. By knowing how to acknowledge their own failings to their children, parents will be better able to guide and correct them:
He who loves his son will not spare the rod. . . . He who disciplines his son will profit by him.
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

They are fixing that in Canada. Teachers there need to know nothing at all, apparently. So that makes them experts in all they do, right?
