Historian and author Jon Meacham said Sunday on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS” that if former President Donald Trump runs again in 2024, it would be a constitutional crisis.
Zakaria said, “I want to lay out what seems to me a reasonable scenario, which is Donald Trump seems to be trying to control the Republican Party for a purpose. This is not just a hobby. He would like to run again. If he runs again, assumption number one, he wants to run, assumption number two, he will get the nomination because the party seemed enthralled with him. He will run, and in 2024, whatever happens, will he claim he won. Doesn’t that present us with a constitutional crisis?”

He is a well known historian who wrote
American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House.
Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power.
American Gospel: God, the Founding Fathers, and the Making of a Nation
He turned viciously anti-Trump and got to go on leftist TV a lot after that. Loved his TDS tirades. He enjoys bashing us and Trump.
A real jerk.
These , sadly, are the types who shape what future generations think about historical figures and events.
Almost all products of leftist indoctrination universities like Harvard and Berkeley among many others.
The only unfolding crisis is in the minds of people who think that a man who will be 78 years old in 2024 will run for the presidency or win if he tries. Not that it isn’t extremely useful for Trump to be going through these motions right now. It frightens all the right people.
Ah yes DKG ever the expert opiner
“ when a president used all the power of government”
Went well beyond the power of govt. Ballot dumps, blockaded vote counting centers, rigged voting machines, “experts” logging in from China….
The constitutional crisis occurred with the last election being stolen and nothing done about it.
Trump “claimed” he won in 2020. He is no longer President. How would a similar result change in 2024.
I don’t think he will run. And if he does, he won’t be the nominee.
Not looking for an argument. I simply see him being more thrilled with the media mogul aspect of all of this. He could play the role of king maker, and make the election a slam dunk.
The Dems won’t be able to garner the emotional screeds against anyone else in the GOP. Look what happened in VA.
This guys is a blithering idiot.
Meacham is one of the every-other-day stooges on MSNBC.
The lead in titling makes him seem more clever, but just disguises him for many readers.
Meacham is just a Leftist Grifter that has a semi permanent comfy chair on a far left news channel. Otherwise you would truly never hear from him.
Fareed Zakaria hides behind his mask of being so over-educated that he simply can’t be seen as wrong. He’s another Anti-American Indian transplant that took all he could from America, including a white wife (RACIIIISSST!!!!), and pisses on the country that gave him so much every chance he gets.
Haven’t watched or listened to either of them for quite some time.
That is a good brief bio. I used to kind of respect him, but he’s another one who went juvenile to be in the in crowd regarding President Trump. It’s really a strange phenomenon.
The question is, if not Trump, then who? The only one I see with any potential out there is DeSantis, and he may not run.

The real Constitutional Crisis was the outright theft of the 2020 election which was done in our faces, with violence, with malice, and using every bit of state power the bureaucracy could get away with.
It was obvious to everyone watching the world over.
I agree that Trump 2024 isn’t going to happen. Him striking the pose right now is what gives him the clout to act as a RINO purgative in the GOP. It also keeps Trump Revulsion under the leftists’ noses, dragging their attention away from effectively adjusting to the realities of likelier situations. Trump is a street fighter. I appreciate what he’s doing. His feints are intended for a different audience. I hope he keeps it up as long as they keep falling for it.
President Trump is not ‘trying to control” the Republican Party. He already controls the Republican Party.
Not even remotely.
Yes it will happen.
I love Trump but by the time he is on his fifth or sixth Covid booster, no mas Trump.
Alex Marlow discusses Meacham's sordid background in his book Breaking the News.
