Florida Set to Join Coveted Second Amendment Club

Florida is an oasis of freedom. It's why everyone is sprinting down there. It's also a state the liberal media hates. They hate it because Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis owns them. At every turn and every corner, they've tried to attack him to no avail. He's just too good. How many haymakers has DeSantis blocked? The Left sees him as a threat. He is—DeSantis unites the Trump and Trump-skeptic wings. So, while Ron DeSantis is blamed for the COVID pandemic, he's moving along making the state the best it can be. It wasn't too long ago that the Sunshine State was known for its utterly bizarre stories. It spawned a now-defunct account on Twitter—"Florida man." Now, it's a beacon of Republican governance. On civil rights, the state seems primed to become a constitutional carry state. If it occurs, it would be the 22nd state to join this club (via Breitbart):

LOL! Been there done that for 24 years. Now we deal with some snow. Oh, and bugs(love bugs!) and snakes and gators and humidity and mold and..... Hard to shoot your way out of a hurricane.

Merry Christmas!

Florida also needs to repeal the ridiculous gun control law passed in 2018 that required people to be 21 to purchase guns.

We left Central FL 16 years ago (years too late IMO). While hurricanes can be a bitch, for us it was, in no particular order:

Heat (and the lack of seasons)
Traffic
Too damn many people (and all the crap that comes with too many people)
Illegals and the "demographics" of SE Florida moving north

Here is where I start either a discussion or an argument.
I live in Arizona, a Constitutional Carry state (since 2010) and open carry (since 1912) and before statehood.

I am much more in favor Open carry and not concealed carry without a permit for several reasons. 1) It is much easier to explain to a LEO, without a lot of silly questions as to why I am armed. 2) I am much more comfortable know that someone with a concealed firearm has had some training and knows the When, What, Where & Hows of carrying concealed. 3) There are a lot of unconvicted felons out there strutting around with a firearm in their waistband(s). 4) I for one wants to see what I am facing rather than the unknown. I will leave that dilemma for any adversary. That said, I do keep my Arizona Concealed Carry Permit active .

I think ‘constitutional carry’ is a misnomer. If there are any restrictions at all on who may carry and where they can carry then it isn’t ‘constitutional carry’. It’s just a more relaxed gun control law.

Very true. The state is still “controlling” the rights.

Florida’s carry laws are a bit outdated. We need an update. Open carry isn’t allowed unless you’re going to or from hunting, fishing, or camping. I’ve openly carried to and from both and never hassled once. It would be nice to remove that rule altogether. Perhaps constitutional carry would be that mechanism.

Haven’t you heard? DeSantis is unacceptable because he said something positive about vaccines.

I swear FR is infested with idiots who want our side to lose.

Tornadoes are as nothing. Dozens, at the very worst, compared to hundreds? Hah. I’ll take tornadoes any day. As I’ve said elsewhere on this forum, and others have also commented: A tornado means everybody get your camera out.
