We don’t need to wait for the results of next year’s midterm elections to know that a political shock wave is headed toward Washington. The early tremors are already detectable.
Donald Trump’s takeover of the Republican Party will soon be complete, and what had previously been a fringe element within the GOP will emerge fully in control. The two big lies — that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump and that the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was not serious enough to merit an investigation — are no longer considered radical inside the GOP.
Republicans can be expected to take over the House of Representatives after the midterm elections — most likely by a considerable margin. Trump already dominates the GOP at the state and local levels, and with the notable exceptions of Reps. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., has a vice-like grip on Republican House members. Even if Trump does not run in 2024, his views and policies now represent mainstream Republican thinking.
And even if the Democrats maintain their narrow grip on the Senate, what is left of the reasonable wing of the Republican Senate is about to disappear. The Republican half of the Senate is on the brink of a new, and irresponsible, era. The 2022 election will cement the trend.

Conservatism has been THE ONLY opposition to New Deal and Great Society liberalism, as well as Obama type Marxism.
You can detect the fear that they are realizing that progressivism is going to have a hammer taken to it.
They'll still have the executive power at the Federal level to veto bills and rule by bureaucrat.
But not at the state level.
“Moderates”?
Moderate whats?
Assistant Democrats
Sheds its conservatives.

And they can take Pierre Delecto with them. Cripes. What arrogance. Trump's persona may have been over the top, but his policies were pretty much mainline middle of the road for any politician prior to 1992. Even Clinton veered back to center after getting shellacked in the 1994 midterms.
I can abide an honest moderate. I can even respect one. But the commie-enablers and back-stabbers have to go!
With friends like establishment Republicans, who needs enemas? Might as well give the communists Democrats the win because for certain, RINOs vote with them most of the time.
This people are insane, did they wring their hands when during the 90s the Dems purged all moderates from their party?
Nope.... but now the side they hate they say is doing that, and oh nos it’s the end of the world...
There is nothing in the middle of the road except yellow stripes and dead animals.
“moderates”
Define the word, or don’t use it. To me, it suggests politicians holding policy positions supported by at least 50% of the electorate. Including policies related to border control, abortion, taxes, deficit spending, business lockdowns, property seizures, vote integrity, violent crime, and school curricula. I don’t think they mean that here.
We are in the throws of a dying Republic. If conservatives don’t get rid of the Rinos, and it’s business as usual, that’s it folks. The GD Dems are already figuring out how to steal the midterms. The Republicans better figure out this is political war we’re in, and it’s take no prisoners.
And when Trump is re-elected President, he will have a majority in both the House and Senate - and hopefully they will be able to keep the RINOs and ‘Moderates’ under control.

Of course the article ignores the fact that the Democrat party has (long ago) already been taken over by its looney fringe elements... and that’s probably what the author expects you to ignore while attempting to scare-monger the Independents.
Build Back Broke is awful, but my primal fear is the rats will pull out all stops to pass HR1 and nationalize federal elections.

Agree fully.
Mitch: Hey, I take this personally. That description only lacks my actual name. I ought to sue.
Like Rush used to say, “moderates are simply those who don’t know what they believe in”. And it can be pretty uncomfortable sitting on a fence...unless you enjoy that sort of thing.
