Former Virginia governor Chuck Robb’s mansion turns into flaming inferno

Former Governor Chuck Robb’s Virginia mansion went up in flames late Tuesday night.

Firefighters arrived at the two-alarm fire on the 600 block of Chain Bridge Road in McLean, Va. at 11:30 p.m. The fire had spread throughout the home’s first floor.

Two people escaped the home and were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

I've been in a fire.I also worked for years in a major hospital's ER...we got badly burned patients in,via helicopter,from hundreds of miles away. There was a saying in ER medicine some time ago (treatment may well have improved since then) that with badly burned patients the *lucky* ones died quickly...because back then they *all* died,and some died slowly.

There’s no indication if the people were Robb and his wife, Lynda, daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Much like English royalty, our politicians marry off their children to each other.

Sad, if they still owned this home, is the literal lifetime of memories that will be gone.

One of the most famous gangsters in Cleveland back when I was a kid was a nominally Jewish guy named Shondor Birns.

Wonder how many corners were cut during construction.
