DeSantis touts monoclonal antibody drug, calls other state’s COVID policies ‘insanity’

Gov. Ron DeSantis declared he is “committed” to ensuring new COVID-19 monoclonal antibody treatment will be administered to vulnerable Floridians.

The long-acting AstraZeneca therapy known as Evusheld will be available to moderately to severely immunocompromised people like cancer patients, he said.

“We are committed to doing the monoclonal,” DeSantis said Friday during a news conference, according to ABC affiliate Local 10. “We will make sure the dose sites are available.”

The Sunshine State has just 3,100 doses of the antibody drug, favored by opponents COVID-19 vaccines, which will be given to the state’s hospitals and clinics that are performing such treatments, multiple outlets reported.

“This monoclonal is a new tool for some of our most vulnerable Floridians and we are happy to make this available throughout the state,” DeSantis said in a press release.

The Food and Drug Administration earlier this month gave emergency use authorization to the AstraZeneca drug for those over 12 with compromised immune systems.

DeSantis, an outspoken opponent of vaccine and mask mandates, vowed not to replicate restrictive COVID-19 precautions enacted in other states.

“We are not going to indulge in any of the insanity that you are starting to see again in other parts of the country,” he said during the news conference, according to the Star-Banner. “A lot of those heavy-handed policies have been total failures, and we’re certainly not going to be indulging that.”

And after 2 years, why is the msm not screaming for biden to produce enough monoclonal antibody for everybody? Like the way they did against Trump for ventilators. Monoclonal antibody is easy compared to ventilators, there should be no shortages at all by now.

No. Shut up. You WILL take the jab. The jab is all that matters. Everything else is far-right wing anti-science.

They want us to obey their orders as a demonstration of their power. No exceptions can be permitted. The ultimate demonstration of their power is when the orders are insane and dangerous or self-destructive.

They want to kill us all.

Because he can’t be trusted to do anything that doesn’t enhance his power. And he does that incompetently. Let the corporations do their corporate best, and manufacture and distribute it for good and valid consideration.

A first among me and my siblings, our baby sister is now nine days from a positive Covid19 test and illness (she is “unvaccinated”). She got the monoclonal antibodies on day two and has had just minor illness since.

I came down with fever, headaches and coughing and doctor office would do nothing until COVID test results. ;by my estimation the monoclonal antibodies infusion was given on SEVEN of my illness, FIVE days from my attempt to be seen by the doctor. The fever and headaches ha already abated .

I believe my lapse in taking vitamins during a week of extra shifts , combined with the resulting fatigue of double shift work left to increased vulnerability.

Those who have taken the monoclonal antibody complain that they are coming down with lymph cancer afterwards.

To me the so-called omicron variant is following the natural course of rhino viruses. Mutation is an attempt to evade being killed by the virus’ hosts, which the virus needs (hosts) n order to survive. So over time the strains that do the most killing recede, by dying more often with their hosts, while the strains that have the most survivability are those that pose the least fatal circumstances to their hosts.

You my friend are exactly right. The virus is a parasite and it can't kill all of the hosts or then it also dies.
To continue to survive, it has to become easier to to jump from host to host and less deadly as to try not to trigger an Immunity Response.

A few days ago I heard from a friend whose dad was fighting covid for 8 miserable days. Unvaxed, 73 years old. He finally asked his doctor for the monoclonal antibody therapy, although he’s “kind of phobic” about hospitals.
About 24 hrs after the treatment he had a high fever and decided he was getting worse. Went to ER, got xrays that said he didn’t have pneumonia, so he went home to suffer some more. Next morning (about a day and a half after the therapy) it was as if covid had never happened. All symptoms gone except the diminished sense of taste and smell.
Every time I hear from someone about monoclonal antibody therapy, it’s pretty much the same ending. It works.

There are limits to when you can treat with MAB's...

I was offered MAB's from Regeneron...after a likely exposure to the 19. I declined....

Only because I've had the 19....

There are protocols for when you can get MAB's and when they prolly won't work....

We just do not intubate pt's because we want them on a Vent. We do it...because they need the Vent.

Been that way ever since I've been in the Biz.

They get on a vent two ways....they cannot oxygenate..or they cannot ventilate. Well there is another way...they are tired of being short of breath...and want relief. And I've seen that with this 19.....

FWIW-
