I found Free Republic via the Drudge report many years ago. I am sure I wasn't the only one who did. That said I don't miss the Drudge report though. Good riddance.

I also found FR that way. I heard about Drudge while listening to Rush. Drudge was the only guy pushing the Lewinsky story back then. However, once I followed the link to FR, I didn't bother with Drudge any longer.

Drudge?? I can’t remember the last time I was there, but am sure it was long ago. I got turned off by all the pop up adds. That was obviously prior to add blockers becoming a norm.

As far as getting to FR, I got here from the Swiftboat Vets site.

I used Drudge Report as my “start page” for years. It’s probably as many years now that I haven’t clicked onto the “Report!”

AMEN!!! it was labelled “WHITEWATER”, and when I clicked on it my life CHANGED!!!

That's my story, too. I was trying to get more information on the Clinton Whitewater scandal and found myself on Drudge (may have been sent there by the Alta Vista search engine -- certainly not Google circa 1996-97).

Apparently, Matt realized FR was carrying many stories about Whitewater, so he set up a link to FR and labeled it "Whitewater Files".

His radio/tv show caused me to start thinking Drudge sucked. Wasn’t long after that I quit using his website.

Yeah, on his TV show he started getting real petty about stuff. I never cared that much to begin with, so it was easy to not bother with him.

I've always wondered, how did y'all find the Drudge Report?

Matt Drudge used to post on Usenet news groups, back before his web site was a thing. That eventually led me to his web site, and from there I found FR, as well as several other web sites/forums which I still read. I no longer read Drudge, however.

I am re reading the Stone Barrington books by Stewart Woods. Stone is a dyed in the wool New York ultra left winger.

In the last book I read, he was caught up in some intrigue on the Caribbean Island of St Marks while on a secret mission for the CIA. The president is running for re election and dirt was being thrown.

There was a quote “Did you see the Drudge report.......?

The Drudge report in question was to a false allegation that the Democrat President politically sinned. A Republican Senator used the hated Drudge report to place a false allegation
