SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A former city councilor won the Republican nomination for an Arkansas state senate seat in a special primary election, beating out candidates that included “19 Kids and Counting” father Jim Bob Duggar.
The poll results from Tuesday’s election show that candidate Colby Fulfer, who is chief of staff for the city of Springdale, won over 46% of the vote. Duggar drew roughly 15% of the vote.

Yes, indeed.
Some people definitely can do evil things regardless of their upbringing. However, when you know one of your children has a problem like this, you don’t thrust them into the pressures of being in the spotlight as a TV star and one of the most famous people in the world...for quite a number of reasons, not to the least of which is knowing that isn’t healthy for someone who already is known to have some psychological problems resulting in bad behaviors in the past.
Unless something has changed in the past couple of hours, Colby Fulfer and Steve Unger are headed to a runoff. Of the 2,972 votes cast in the Republican primary, Fulfer received 1,387 votes while Unger received 941. There will be a run-off election in January. I guess this article was written just to get Duggar’s name in the story. I don’t think he received more than 15% of the vote so wasn’t really an contender in the election.
People like to dump on Jim Bob Duggar. Yet those who have raised kids know that despite all, sometimes kids don’t always turn out right. Its very hard to raise a family in a culture that openly embraces epicurean decadence. If honest many would say “there by the grace of God, go I”. Best to learn but not be judgmental of Duggar and his wife.
I’m unaware of this show to any extent

I don’t judge Duggar on his personal family life or any of that. In this particular climate I judge him on being an incumbent and on that note, he’d be out - plain and simple. No more....
Before the show - and even during - he was still a child himself.
Like stated above - when you have a child that has an apparent issue like this, you don’t put them on television.
I completely agree with that - but when you know one of your kids has issues you don’t put them on TV. That doesn’t help them psychologically.

It appears they did not. I live a few miles from springdale. The QF give a distinct LDS/Warren Jeffs vibe.
Same here. I’m not from Arkansas so I don’t know the guy. Hopefully someone from there can tell us because the man has been in public office before. They did vote him in so they must have some confidence in him.
Josh is a heavy weight to carry.
I honestly believe Jim Boob knew darn well what he was doing.
With that said I will admit it’s sad all around and I feel so bad for those girls most of all.
He can do what he wishes with his life but I’m glad to day he’s not in public office harming other children’s lives
The seat he was running for was open. He wasn't the incumbent. The incumbent, Lance Eads, resigned.

Point well taken. Suspect that he needed the money trying to support his very large family and at some level justified the loss of privacy as an opportunity to proudly proclaim his devout Christianity. Yet most family matters are best handled privately and there is no telling the effect of such publicity would have on his still maturing children. Certainly would not advise anybody to have cameras follow them constantly. Seems that placing cameras and production crews in private homes is what passes for entertainment these days.
With that said I will admit it’s sad all around and I feel so bad for those girls most of all.
I have not seen any indication there are any charges against Jim Bob. I think you are confusing him with his son, Josh.
No I meant Jim Boob. His friend Bobye Hoyt has tesitifed that Jim Bob and michelle knew of the child molesting that went on, that we can now take to the bank. It was under oath. They knew and tried to hide it.
