In Colorado, there is a backlash from people who can't get into hospitals because they are full of unvaccinated COVID-19 patients. Administrators say facilities "are on the verge of collapse."

“Colorado does not allow monoclonal antibodies or horse paste, so it’s respirators or nothing”
That doesn’t sound right, we have commercials here saying you can get monoclonal antibodies and a clinic to do just that was just set up about 15 miles away, with fanfare.
I’m unvaxxed in CO. Unhospitalized too. Also unCovidized.
As far as I can tell no one is angry with me either.
One possible explanation for that; I live in actual Colorado and NPR lives in Unicorn Colorado.
Ditto.
total BS.....
“That doesn’t sound right,”
Perhaps it is more complicated, however, both of my friends parents came down with covid and were in the hospital in Denver on a respirator for over a month. They were flat out denied monoclonal antibodies and horse paste straight out.
re: “I skimmed the article, but didn’t see any hard numbers of how many unvaxxed patients vs. vaxxed.”
Duggie, what say you?
Once you’re admitted to the hospital you can’t get monoclonal antibodies but there are centers all over the state where they are available.
The time to get them is immediately after a positive test.
No doctor, he/she is a veterinarian, is going to Rx horse paste. You have to buy that yourself. The best time to take it is before you even get covid.
What’s the matter Colorado? Vaccines still not working?
:)
I hate Unicorn Colorado. It’s not even on my maps!
1) Keep encouraging vaccines and boosters;
2) Impose vaccine mandates where it can be done;
3) Otherwise return to normal as fully as we can, especially the schools; and
4) Let hospitals quietly triage emergency care to serve the unvaccinated last

BS!
To push more division in the population
A house divided against itself will not stand….
David Frum??? Let’s also check in with Bill Kristol, Max Boot, David Brooks and Jonah Goldberg for the best possible advice.
Not Possibly Right.
Welp, put Colorado on the list of “NEVER AGAIN” states, like Noo Yawk, Noo Joisey, California, Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, Connecticut, etc...
So open up a field hospital, like the one in Central Park or the re-purposed Javitz Center, that Grabby Andy refused to utilize because spreading Covid in nursing homes would make Trump look bad. Foe Jiden needs some way to look good, so why doesn’t he actually do something good. Because he wants to see unvaxxeds lynched?
If hospital capacity in CO is strained, it’s probably mostly because of the backlogs never caught up with from having so much “other stuff”, esp. in the way of elective procedures, delayed in previous waves.
Now, there IS a point lost on almost all FReepers: “Available beds” are often not appropriate beds. Taking your car to Midas for a transmission rebuild is likely not a good idea.
That only explains MAYBE 5-10% of the staffing shortage.
Every mid or lower level hospital health care worker my wife and I know (and my wife being a Filipina, we know a BUNCH of them) is burnt out or seriously long term stressed / fatigued. In this economy, with so many people out of the workforce entirely, related but easier work is easy to find.
The time window (actually in some ways an O2 levels window) for monoclonals is quite narrow. Now, if “whoever” in the gov’t, hospitals, etc., was really trying to kill off a bunch of Americans (popular tin hat theory on FR), administering monoclonals a little late in the game would be both fairly effective and clever. Just “correct” that O2 level in the paperwork by adding 5.
