Former President Donald Trump on Sunday called for an end to Republican Mitch McConnell's term as Senate Minority Leader because "the Old Crow" is "giving the Democrats victory on everything."
In a statement made through his Save America PAC, Trump accused McConnell of "hurting the Republican Senators and the Republican Party," saying that he didn't "have the guts" to play the debt ceiling card, which would have "given the Republicans a complete victory on virtually everything. The Dems were ready to fold!"
Last week, McConnell negotiated a deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to allow the Democrats to hike the debt ceiling with just a majority of votes rather than 60 in order to overcome a filibuster, thereby allowing Republicans to say that none of them voted for a debt ceiling increase.

The most compelling evidence our GOP politicians in Congress have no fight in them is their choice of leadership. Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy are not fighters, they are backroom dealers for entrenched special interests. Accommodation and compromise are their negotiating strategies. The same with their predecessors — Bill Frist in the Senate as well as Hastert, Boehner, and Ryan in the House. The ugly truth is the overwhelming majority of GOP members of Congress are happy with their choice of leadership. No matter how loudly Trump protests, the status quo will remain as it has for decades.

Not going to happen. If Trump is elected in 2024 and the Republicans hold the Senate then he’s going to have to work with McConnell.
Both Mitch and Trumps play are valid with what the congressional calendar is. Im not going to get all in a bunch over a fight between an executive canidate and a congressional leader that already have a personal beef. Functional Mitch has ran out the clock and not given much more than the status Quo. Trump positions wants some corrections and some wins the media cannot ignore today. Slow and steady is Senate Campaign fund raising bullet points, quick wins is national campaign fund raising bullet points.
Future Congress and Senate Wins are of value to Mitch, that is what 34 senate races are going to be about. Getting Nancy away from the hammer is already baked in the cake unless some sort of monkey shit fight breaks out. Moving the republican into a 4 seat majority in the senate and 20 seats in house is critical.
Political wins for the party are of value to Trump and a limited number of critical races for the party.
A debt celling fight is about past spending, an apporations and regulations fight is about future spending.
There are 2 legislative months left before the 2022 midterms start the primary and generals. There is nothing in great demand by the voting public except for news that is beyond legislatures and executive control.
The executive branch is frozen in Covid 19 response, not much is happening inside the departments that matter.
Covid nationalized public health and proved that smaller government is the direction the collection of states will vote for. The very few karen states will get the karen programs and the rest of us will get on with it.
Trump does not use those words but deregulation and less controlling nitwits from DC have been the GOP goal and the foundation since 1976. A 1/3 cut in government probably will double american competitiveness and restart exports on world trade. Just run on that and win Mitch. Run on the federal government should be out of local education excluding some broad block grants.
That empty containers are a problem leaving LA on boats are a limitation is insane, fill those with an export that the person in Asia can afford because the container would have been empty. That was part of 2016, but was forgotten, the US has to export something, export anything to the rest of the world other than IP and finance just remain a world power.
